Sebenza with Tanto Blade

I recently learned about the CRK Sebenza while on the EDC forums. So yesterday I went to a local knife shop to see if they had any. To my surprise, they actually had a few CRK and one of them was a Sebenza (I think it was a large one?).

I was told that it was a 2005 limited edition and that only the limited edition knives have the tanto blade. The knife was marked with 1/200 and was priced around $400 - $450 (I don't remember the exact price).

Would this be a good knife to purchase for the price? It looked like it had been handled a lot and never wiped down. I am not sure if this would degrade or corrode the material in any way.

I think my ideal CRK would be the Sebenza in a smaller size. Sounds like the Umfaan is no longer made. Is the small Sebenza the same size as the Umfaan?

I tried to search the forum for similar topics, but couldn't find a search box?

the small sebenza is bigger than the umfaan. The small is small enough imo. Any smaller would make it uncomfortable to hold tightly.

If you like tanto, then get it. If it was a small , then Id say its not a good deal. If it was large...its still not a good deal. JUST MY OPONIONS. :)

I think it would be a great knife to purchase. It's a Limited Edition and when they're gone they're gone. They didn't seem very popular much to my surprise. I have 3 left handed one's. I think they're real cool.:cool:

The first time they came out they made small ones too, those are a harder to find.

They have a very nice and perhaps slightly heavier feel to them. The 2005 models are only large. The price is about right, I don't think you can do much better.
 
Thanks for the quick replies! I think that the knife looked like the very top knife on DaveH's reply.

The more I think about it, for the $$ I am going to look for a small "plain" handled one. This is fun stuff though! I love learning about new knives!
 
FYI - Plaza cutlery has 3 of the large tanto sebenzas in stock for 450 - NIB
