Hi,
Does anybody know if this is possible to get. Maybe with a "nick" instead of the stud. This would make the sebbie legal in a few countries...

Oh oh, me too! Me too! Put me down for a large and small sebenza set with nail nicks instead of studs.

The thumbstud makes the knife one-hand operated and thats illegal. I am not sure why that is a problem - I don't really find a one-hand knife more dangerous.

By the way - welcome to the forum - it's a real interesting and fun place to be! :D

Thanks for the welcome, I found this board after buying 2 CR damascus knives, this is a great board.

Getting back to that Legality issue, are knives with big thumb holes (like spyder co's) in them illegal too? I'd argue that most knives are able to be opened with one hand (I can open my minandi one-handed and it doeesn't have a thumbstud)...

Guess where I´m from....:D ;)
Danish knifelaws are STUPID and will get even more stupid in the next 6 months or so. It will be illigal to carry all knives, even SAK´s, unless you can prove your going camping or fishing etc. I´m Danish and proud of it, but the Vikings are leaving in a haste!!:grumpy:
I would love a Sebbie that wouldn´t get me in trouble with the law. The price for getting cought with a onehand opener (Spydies also!!) is a 1000$ fine:eek: :( I sjid you not!
Take care,
ALIass

Wow, and I thought our "no blade over 4" (unless you have a valid hunting/fishing license and can prove you are going to or comming back) and no automatics was bad. I'd hate to see what would happen to me over there if I got caught carrying my microtech ultratech (the ultratech being an out the front, auto depoly/retract).

I'd agree that a "nail nick" is probably out of the question, but I'd bet that if you special ordered you could get a sebbie with no thumbstud and plug it yourself or have them plug the hole. If not it can't be too hard to gently hammer out the stud and find somehting to plug the hole. Granted it wouldn't have a thumb flick or stud so opening it might not be too easy (actually this sounds like how the government wants it, a two handed operation) but its soundling like this might be the only option to legally carry one there.

Im sure you wont see a mass production of such an idea, however try contacting CRK directly. With their great customer service, Id be surprised if they couldnt work something out for you. Anne and Bridget are wonderful to deal with, and if it can be done, they most likely will help you any way they can.

goodluck...

I am sure that many of the knifemakers here on BladeForums--both full-time and hobbyist--would be able to remove the thumb stud, fill the hole, and make a nail nick if CRK prefers not to do it. Perhaps CRK would do some, like sell you the knife without the thumb stud, and one could have the rest done by someone else.

ad IamMatt: Maybe the guy from Hawaii....

But be carefull you mayo get it back with some more holes in it.

lol
