I have both the regular and 21 and I prefer the blade shape and handle shape of the regular over the 21.

What is your preference.

I've never owned nor handled a Regular but I prefer the clean, sleek lines of the 21.

ETA: perhaps you could ask a Mod to move this thread over to the CRK Forum. You might get better answers there from folks who have more experience with both models... :)

I prefer the looks of the Regular blade, but looks are the only reason I prefer that blade.

edit- I had thought you were only talking about the blade when I first posted.

I also like the Regular frame better, and for more than just looks. I can get four fingers on the small regular because the index finger goes a bit more foward on the handle. Its harder for me to get four fingers on the small Classic/21 frame.

I bitched and moaned when they discontinued the Regulars. But over time I found that I prefer the 21 in every way.

Regular Sebenza all the way for me. The regular is just a superb knife in every way.

Here is a wrench, I had a 21 and much prefer the 25:) I have never had a regular to comment.

I have Large Classics and 21s which see the most daily use. However, I like the aesthetics and history of my "Regulars", but seldom use them. Sort of like my pistols... I carry my Glock 26 and S&W 442 much more frequently than my CCO or Gov't Model 1911's (which I like more).

They're all so similar it's hard (for me) to choose. Regulars with swedges are pretty close to 21's and it seems the 25 shape is a little combo of both the regular and 21.

Now the Insingo...

The Regular over the 21 for me. Both are really sweet, but I give the edge to the Regular....

I of course love all CRK'S but so do you are you wouldn't be reading this long boring post.. As you all know I have not been involved with collecting these fine pieces of art (IMHO) for very long.. But I have been able to assemble a modest collection to date.. I find it very interesting that Chris has really come full circle in my opinion with the design of these knives. And of course those of you with much more knowledge than I may disagree and rightfully so. After all you have much more knowledge than I when it comes to what I like to call (This thing of ours) to borrow an term from our Sicilain frends.. but if you compare the 21 and the Classic with the Original the design with a few minor changes are not that different. Actually the design is the same.. The Regular which I love as well was a complete departure from the Original design and is of course a Beautiful Design change that continued up until the last Annual in 2011. However with the Classic and then the 21 in 2008 the Sebenza basically reverted back to the Original Design.. Sorry I don't have a Large Classic to include in the picture so I used my BBQ knife.. (Thanks Dave) Comments and opinions are welcome.
:)
From top to bottom:
21
Original
Classic (BBQ Knife)
Regular
P.S. I am looking for a Large Plain Classic NIB...

I prefer the classic, rounded lock bar makes all the difference. I started with regulars, and they look real sleek, but the scalloping never did it for me and at the end of the day my hand was just happier with the 21/classic shape. I don't care much for the tapered fronts of the 21 either, so classic all the way for me. Haven't handled a 25, so I can't comment on that, but I have doubts it would be as good as the classic because it wouldn't have the rounded lock bar.

The regular sebenza is the best sebenza design there is. I have had them all and nothing compares to a large regular. Its the finest folding knife ever invented in my opinion. Once you handle a large regular, its tough to go back. I am not alone as many will echo these same thoughts............For the longest time, I did not care for the 21, but I will say that it has grown on me quite a bit and I EDC one often. My EDC's that I carry are a Large Regular, Umnumzaan, Sebenza 21, Sebenza 25, so I am covering the gammot of CRK's Big Folders on a daily basis.

Is the large regular significantly better than the small? The rounded lock bar that I love so much on the classics is actually most noticeable on the large models, I used to not really care between the two until I had a large 21, after that I had to have a large classic instead, it was that big of a difference for me. The smalls aren't as big of a difference, but its still something worth mentioning I think. I have had a bunch of regulars, just never had a chance to own a large as I was a little late to the CRK game and the larges cost a pretty penny now a days.

That said...I'd really like to try a regular with a swedge, I've always been curious....

I have several of both large and small regular sebenzas and for me, the large regular is oh so much better. Its more hand filling and just better overall in my opinion. Its not overly large though. If you have a large 21, its the same size, just the handles are more contoured and the blade is more drop point style than clip point like the 21.

I much prefer the lines of the regular Sebenza, especially in the smalls. To me they just have much more pleasing lines. Like posted above, I would really like one with a swedge! Here are my small sebenzas:

I like the large regs Much better. I have 2 cgg and another one coming next week. I got 1 cgg in a trade recently and can't stop carrying it.

I had a large reg and few years ago. I sold it because I wasn't using it very much. I've regretted it ever since.
