When I was becoming more and more interested in the knife world and learning the ins and outs of it, I undoubtedly had heard of the CRK Sebenza more than a few times! I looked at it and just couldn't figure out why so many people loved it and why it was so highly sought after. So after a few years I finally get it. I'm so excited because I plan on buying one...it'll take some time but will definitely happen this summer. Sadly it'll probably be the only knife I buy this summer as I've bought quite a few (spyderco szabo, 0801 (with custom work done to it) and a para 2 all within the last couple of weeks. Can't wait to "officially" join the knife community

Had you combined all that money for those knives you bought within the last few weeks, you'd have that nice Sebenza!! Once you get one, you'll more than likely sell those off to get another. You'll see...

Yea I can see why, its an absolutely gorgeous knife! Personally I've had my eye on the large 21 with the CF inlays. I know when I get it I'm gonna feel like a little kid on Christmas. No one is gonna be able to appreciate it though since none of my friends or family are knife people.

Haha well I can't see myself ever parting with the 0801! Unfortunately the PM2 I bought came with a few chips in the blade and is currently in Golden Colorado being dealt with! I probably will sell a few knives down the line to find another Sebenza!

I have many of them and you do not get it until you finally have one in your hand. I had 15 of CRK's one piece knives before I bought a sebenza. I was hooked immediately. I have tried others such as strider, hinderer, etc. But ALWAYS come back to the sebenza. It is just simply the Best out there.

I've never had the chance to see or hold one in person since I'm the only knife person I know of in my life (other than BF), but I am so looking forward to the day when I can hold it, use it, and slide it in my pocket.

Im in about the same place the OP is, Ive been collecting for about 2 years and have many Kershaws, ZTs, and Spyderco knives somewhere around 120 now. But here lately I really want to try out a Large Sebenza and a Strider model to see what they are all about. Problem is ZT keeps putting out great knives I cant seem to stop buying long enough to get one.

Haha I totally know what you mean! I almost impulse bought a zt 0770CF the other day but somehow had the self restraint I usually lack! It's gonna feel so sweet to finally get those Sebenzas in our hands though!

Get a Sebenza to check out and judge for yourself. I myself don't really care for them after trying out half a dozen of them. I don't like the HT or the ergos. There are plenty of fine blades out with great value at especially in the production knife market.

I wish I was able to do that. There's no knife shops or places around where I live that will have them, and nobody that I know where I live has one either so I don't have too many other options on the matter! I'd love to feel one out though first

The Sebenza is a very special knife and no amount of studying and debating will convince anyone until the day it is owned and handled. I also did not get the hype until I got my own one. I got me the Wilson Combat large Starbenza as I love the look and feel of this variant more.

There will be many folders that trumps the Sebenza in specific areas (steel, for example) but the power of the Sebenza lies in where it ends on the list when all things are considered as a whole. As a whole - all things considered - it comes out tops for a lot of people. The are nicer looking knives. There are knives with better ergonomics. There are better steels. But there is only one Sebenza.

You should buy one; there is so little risk to doing it, given the strong resale value they hold. That said, don't build up your expectations too much or you may find yourself distinctly underwhelmed.

I bought one after reading all the CRK-cult love on various forums and found that it really didn't do anything for me. In the end they're just well-made simple knives, but if you're expecting them to be super-special reality could be a letdown.

The more knives I buy, the more I appreciate the Sebenza. It really is pretty much the perfect folder in terms of utility, fit and finish and overall craftsmanship. If I could have only one folder for the rest of my life, this would be it. And like evilgreg said, you could always get your money back down the line if you need it. Here's a little motivation:

This should be theogic for anyone wanting one who has picked up, sold, or traded their edc's because they were looking for a sebenza but didn't want to pay for it.

I've been looking for a small sebenza alternative for a year and have spent at least that amount. I want to crank out a few extra bills and then pick up a micarta insingo by mid summer!

Btw if you need to order yourself a cheap crkt drifter or a China SRM 710 these are not Sebenza clones. But they have a very similar size and shape as a small sebenza. If the simple design and boxy slim shape of the package. I had been looking for a better quality crkt drifter replacement for quite some time.

Congrats ! I think you'll enjoy it.
I got my first almost 15 years ago, and I prefer them over any other modern knife I've tried(custom or production), but I also like Spyderco a lot.
There are many traditionals I like but when it comes to modern folders those are about the only two companies I buy from anymore.

Congrats on decided to take the plunge! You will be pleasantly surprised... Don't expect it to part the Red Sea or Angels come down from the heavens playing harps. It's a knife, it cuts things, but it is a quality knife that cuts things well and looks good at doing it. You will get it true enjoyment when using it

Yea since I mostly buy knives in the price range of 100-350 or so I've got more than a handful of spydies and some zts. But I think it's time to really save and get that Sebenza. I haven't delved into the traditional knife world and I know next to nothing about it, but I'm sure I'll cross over that threshold one day!

Haha I'd be okay with a little harp playing though! :p

I just got my large 21 this week and have been carrying and lightly using it almost every day. It's a very nice knife that I plan on keeping (I'm a user, not a collector)....but! I really think I'm more of a bigger "tactical" (whatever that means) knife guy. I went for a long motorcycle ride yesterday and before leaving I grabbed my Sebenza...then put it down, picked up my zt0561 flicked it open looked at the blade, closed it, then slipped the ZT in my pocket instead of the sebenza. I like the sebenza....but a beefier knife like the ZT just speaks to me more. YMMV.
