I held a Sebenza (a small Classic) for the first time today at lunchtime and whipped out the credit card and was prepared to bring the Sebbie back to the office, but the salesperson at Paragon Sports in NYC said the knife and the large Classic next to it were being offered only as a pair--and at $800. Jeez. Anyone could get an identical pair for $650 on the Net.

Whenever I have been to Paragon Sports I find a pretty decent collection of knives for sale, but it is NYC, so it will be expensive. Pick up the knives, feel them and see if you like them. Then buy them on the internet.

Perhaps they were one of the 50 numbered matched sets from when CRK re-introduced the "Classic" back in the year 2000. Original MSRP was $650.00, value now determined by what the market will bear. I'd want at least that much for mine.

Stjames:

To borrow from Johnny Carson--I did not know that (about numbered matched sets). They could well be a numbered matched set. For the longest time, they had been in what looked like their own custom case.

Thanks,
Johnny
