Second chance for my Camillus EDC

I bought this knife about a year or two ago, I can't really remember now, and I really didn't like it to begin with. The day I got it and took it out of the box the blade wasn't centered in the handles when it was closed and when it was open the locking bar traveled all the way over to the other handle and the blade had a lot of play. I had taken the advice of the people on this forum and purchased the knife. I knew that so many of you couldn't have recommended the knife if it weren't good. So I thought that I just got a bad one so I sent it back to Camillus. When it returned to me the blade play was fixed so that it was a little better than it was before I sent it off but all the other problems were still there. So I just put it away and forgot about it.
Well the other day I saw it and decided to give it a look and see if I could maybe fix it. I took out the pivot screw and it had a lot of somethig in it so I cleaned it all out and put a good coat of Militec on it and tightened it all back down. It was fixed! There is no more blade play, the locking bar only covers about half of the blade now, and the blade is centered when closed. It has a 154CM blade so it has good steel which made me always wanted to carry it but wouldn't because of the problems. Now that it is fixed I have been carring it this past week and really like the thing, I think that it has a really useful blade shape. I have been reading the " Whats in your pockets" and "Whats your EDC" treads a noticed that nobody really talks about them much anymore, so I was just wondering if anybody around here still carries one and for the people who do own one what do you think of it? Thanks!

It is one of the very few knives that I keep a spare of. I carry one as a beater and have one safely squirreled away.

A great design, ie. good blade shape, slim, light and yet a substantial knife.

Also a good looker.

I love mine.

I have the Talonite version, mainly for the swank factor. It's a smart little knife. I'd describe its looks as "understated elegance."

The recurved blade is awkward to sharpen on my Edge Pro Apex, but the proximal end of the blade can be brought to acceptable sharpness using the edges of the stones.

All in all: 8/10.

War Eagle back at 'ya! I carry one every day, along with a serrated Spyderco Native. Great little knives.

I've got a few EDCs. Great design. The talonite version sits on my desk at home. The only reason I stopped carrying them every day was because I wanted a larger knife in my pocket.

Like all my other knives, my Camillus EDC purchase was heavily influenced by the comments from this forum too. I can't get enough of the recurve design. It's an awesome little knive I EDC for formal occassions. The skeleton design itself definately has a cool factor by my non-knifeknut peers.

I used to be a fan of the EDC, but the more that I carried it the less I liked the blade shape. I found the fat recurve and high point to be problematic in my day-to-day uses, and sold mine off.

I really like the handle and overall construction, however. I would really like to see it released with a legitimate drop point blade shape.

I recently traded into a 154CM EDC and am very happy with it. I also took it apart and lightly polished the washers, applied FP10 and put it back together. It really feels like a quality piece.

I haven't cut enough with it to know how good the edge holding is but then, that sort of speaks for itself. I personally like the blade design. I have a couple other knives with similar blade patterns and have learned to get a nice edge on them.

I had a 154CM version, but found the handle too slick and the blade too thick, so I traded it. I didn't have a problem with the blade shape - but there are other shapes I prefer. Basically, it didn't work out for me, but I can see why so many people like them.

I have one and love it. The clip is about perfect for wb carry, it has tip down design which I feel is best for quick deployment, the 154 CM blade sharpens easily and holds an edge well for every day city usage (envelopes, apples. tie wrap, molded plastic packages, etc.). My favorite feature is the skeletonized SS handle, rinsing this knife under running water is a breeze, a touch of oil at cleanup time and all is well. I also have another DRD as a backup, the Edgetech Paragee. Very similar design with a recurve blade that has a top grind that makes it look slightly more agressive. The clip is a bit tight on it but not to the point of disliking it. The blade is AUS 8A which I find harder to sharpen. Not sure why, just have more trouble getting it hair poppin' sharp. They are both excellent edc's and do not get a " Holy F#@k" when pulled out at the office. On the weekend it is a different story depending on the activity lined up. You will not be disappointed.

Mine mostly sits in the drawer at home, mainly because I like carrying something bigger. I tend to clip it on when I wearing more formal attire - along with the good watch etc. It's a nice knife and when I was EDC'ing it I remember it being a lot tougher than it looked.
