About the time we all learned of Hanna's plight I was in the market for a new fixed blade.
Actually I'm always in the market for a new knife...
I requested some modifications to the already spiffy Compact Combat Survival.
Less blade height and 1/8" thickness steel.
The knife arrived a bit late for my trip and then I became overcome by event so it sat in the safe.
Fast Forward to this morning:
My neighbor's oldest son had some substance issues early on, fought through it and now has a marketable skill and a job offer in Oregon.
He and his fiance left this morning to camp across country and start their new life.
When I heard they would be camping and recalled how hard he's worked it seemed naturally to give him the knife I bought to help support Hanna.
He was both amazed at the gift and proud that I chose something with a positive history.
We can all do with a few less possessions AND if it enable younguns coming up to enjoy the outdoors, so much the better.
