Anybody seen this? Of particular interest in light of our recent immigration problems. Haven't seen it yet, just heard a lot about it from my sister, Sterling. She LOVES it!

Can buy on ebay, hard to find otherwise. HBO denied making it until recently.

Beau Bridges stars in this black comedy that spoofs media manipulation, tabloid sensationalism, and the business of politics in this dark vision of a not-so-futuristic America. With a planeload of immigrant Pakastani orphans heading to his state for permanent relocation, the Governor of Idaho (Bridges) decides to defy the President (Phil Hartman) and close the state's border. News Net Television, a CNN-like cable news program that dominates the race for ratings by reporting on every possible political scandal or upset, quickly becomes involved and spins the racist act into an overnight media sensation, creating a divide in national opinion of both the Governor and the President. With a nervous country looking on--and the Governor romancing a NewsNet reporter (Leslie Pena) who's covering the story--it looks like Idaho may just start the second Civil War. THE SECOND CIVIL WAR is an original comedy from HBO.

Its funny you should bring this up now Bill. I believe there is a building momentum for a second civil war. We've heard the strategies from the invaders to our south. They think of that land as theirs and they intend to take it back. Thank God for Abraham Lincoln making sucession illegal. Ha Ha. Now we can attack them if they try it. Its a war I'd march off to join.

Please God make Dubya put 30K troops at the border rather than 6K. Is it militarized. Yep. So what?

No civil war. We are Wal Mart citizens. We do no march; we consume. TV, POP music, internet, T shirts and slogans carrry our angst for us.

Munk,

I think you are right.

That WAS well said.

The "whatever" crowd. I'd protest, but "it's all good".

Divide and conquer is always a good policy, if you can make it work. Our society, and how it works, allows us to feel alone, isolated.

Isn't it better to have your opponent believe he can't win, no matter what?

One proof that tyrants fear "the people"... Gun control.

Can "we" win? depends on what "win" means.

Gandalf believed that even if some small green thing survived the cataclysm of sauron, his efforts would have been worth the trouble.

The things I treausre most are beyond the reach of any tyrant, or marauding hordes.

Pain, suffering, grievous loss? All are possible, perhaps likely, in our nation's future.

That doesn't mean the bad guys win though.

I hope this makes some sense.

I thought I was feeling depressed today, but I guess maybe I feel OK!
