Just wanted to brag that I just got a CQC-13 that's been Kerigned. It's an older one, so Kreign added a swedge to it, too.

The first Emerson I got was a Super Commander. Both feel great in hand.

Just a quick question about the chisel grind. What's the benefit of it over a dual bevel grind?

Thanks!

I stand by the dual bevel for ease of sharpening. I've never been able to get a real sharp CG. I'll try to post some pics tonight after I get back from assisting my grandma around the house.

Thanks!

Bro--- You only sharpen "one" side with the chisel grind. Technique man. Work up the burr and buff it off. I pull "backwards' on water stones.

congrats on your knife amroc!

so did I this evening on my cqc-8, shaves hair with the chisel grind, polished it on a 10.000 grit jap waterstone.

you can't see it on the webcam shot but the edge is clear like a mirror
take the burr of the flat side gently. Go full on the angled side and only shave of the burr once of twice on the flat side.

I personaly find the Falkniven stones to be the best for touchups and the like.
(The ones with a diamond stone on one side and a fine ceramic on the other).
Using one of those as well as stroping will give a real nice edge in all of 10 mins.

I'll keep that in mind for when I have another knife that is a chisel grind.

Here's a picture that was sent to me for the trade.

I'm liking it. It's been in my pocket all day.

Thanks!

That is one impressive looking blade, Amroc! Congrats.

I find that a chisel edge achieves a sharpness that is hard to match with a 'V' edge. Remember, you are only working with half the angle.

Hopefully tonight I can add another picture of the CQC-13 with it's Super Commander sibling.

Thanks all!
