Hey guys,

After weeks of research, I decided to settle on the ZT 0393. Just got the knife at the mail today.

Here's a comparison of the Spyderco Native 5 Lightweight that I currently have.

Compared to the Native 5, the 0393 weights a lot more, while my Native 5 feels like a piece of paper. I got the knife for a really good price too, so money well spent. What's next? A benchmade?

Edit: Seems like I can't put images, does anyone know how to do that?

Go to Imgur.com, drop your images onto the main page, wait for them to upload, and then copy the links to each image into the image tool here on BF (the little toolbar that appears above the window where you right your post).

Yeah I just got it fixed, thanks for the tips. You can take a look at the pictures now.

Nice photos! The 0393 sure is a sweet-looking knife. How is it in-hand?

If you're collecting to admire your knives (nothing wrong with that!), a Benchmade would be a logical next choice. The Axis lock is a lot of fun.

If you're collecting use your knives: Take a deep breath! Let your wallet recover. Carry and use the two you have, see what you like (and may find you dislike) about them based on how they work for you, and on how they fit into your life. Then buy another knife based on that.:)

Great pics. What do you think of the 0393?

It's a fantastic knife, although I have been only using it for a couple hours, so I can't give a well thought answer yet. I was initially thinking that the G10 overlay over the titanium would lose its "premium" feel on the hand, but turns out it didn't. It feels really nice in my hands, the G10 definitely gives it more grip and a more practical material to hold it on. I am still a little skeptical on the lock, as it seems more like a liner lock due to the thinness of it. It's holding fine however, so I am not going to worry about it too much. I will have to use the knife more often to give better opinions about this knife.

I don't think I will be buying a knife anytime soon, but yeah, I really should see what I like or dislike about my knives first. Maybe I will try a Benchmade with Carbon Fiber handle just to try out all handle materials in the future, who knows.

Nice pair !!!!!, of knives that is o_O

Why BenchMade ????

I am not sure, since I heard some people in this forum talk about the trifecta of US made knives (ZT, Benchmade, Spyderco), so I might go for it. But who knows, I actually have the PM2 in mind as well, but I will see what happens.

Fair enough, in that case definitely get a BM for your next purchase. Both ZT and Spyderco offer so many different models/styles, it will be easy to get bogged down with one brand. Try a few and see which ones suit you the best in terms of usefulness, customer service, quality of build. But, in order for that to happen, get some use out of them before moving on.
Happy hunting for the next one.

Next knife depends what you will use it for. There are a lot of Benchmade options, and I echo the praise for their Axis lock. Check out ESEE - I was impressed to hold my first ESEE recently and am going to pick up at least one more before venturing back to the BM, ZT, or Spyderco zone.

ipwn3r456, nice choice. I have had mine for 2 months now and it has taken over as my main EDC. Great looking, very strong and smooth.

Lateck,

Why not try something Non American, a WE Knife or a Reate?

I was looking at M390 knives from WE knife before buying the ZT 0393. ZT seems to get a good praise for their warranty service, so I went with the 0393. How's the warranty for WE knife?

What do you plan on using your knife for? Do you want/have the means/have the will to sharpen often? Maybe, if you use your knife for cutting fibrous materials, you might find a serrated blade is in order. If so, stick to Spyderco in whichever flavour you feel like trying. Police G10 serrated, Salt Series for H1, etc.

BTW, polished carbon fiber gets slippery when whet, I would avoid it if possible. Looks cool but... that's about it. A handle should be all about grip and shape (the so called "ergos"). Only thing it adds is bling, and rises the price of the knife.
