I had a sliver of steel that I was just about to throw in the scrap box when I remembered that I need a small carving knife for something else that I'm working on. So...
The wharncliffe blade is about 1.5" long, hidden tang, 1095; the handle is Teak, with a core of Wenge. I wasn't sure I could reliably cut/drill/carve a slot into a solid handle, so I came up with the Wenge core. I drilled a single pin hole into the hidden tang, but I think I'm going to add another at the end. That way the single pin won't act as a pivot and snap the thin Wenge core when torque is applied to the blade.
I've still got a bunch of sanding, especially since the damn steel isn't totally flat.:thumbdn:
