Dakota,
Looks good! Very nice piece of maple burl. Your middle and last pins are off center. Sorry, just being honest. To insure my pins are in the center of the handle I scribe a bisecting line across the tang where I want my pin placement. Next I measure the length of the line with a set of calipers. Divide by two and then mark a perfectly centered mark to be centerpunched and drilled. I'm sure there are other ways but this works for me.
Hope this helps and keep at it!

Although I agree that the middle pin looks odd, that high up on the handle, I'd say that (barring some unknown-to-me mechanical issues) the last pin is aesthetically perfect, anchoring the pinky-bulge.

Oh yeah, very nice knife, too, especially for only your second try.

i see what u talking about mdoyle, although this is how i did it. the pins are 1 and half inches apart, i came off the top and made a line and then drilled, kinda hard to put first pin in lower to get second pin down some, also not sure how but the middle pin did walk on me some so is a fraction higher then it should be , and the last pin is right were i wanted it, ill take suggestions as to were fiirst pin could , should have been to get center pin down some?? And i dont mind people pointing things like that out will make me a better maker in the long run. thanks

Dakota,
Either you lost me or I lost you but I feel that you didn't quite grasp what I said and I'm not sure that I have ANY idea what you said. Start with your blade running left to right. Make three individual lines across the blade;(up and down) at the location you want your pins. Don't worry about your spacing (ie.1-1/2") just locate where, left and right, you want your first and last pin and then center your middle pin between them. Mark the middle of all three individual lines. That will put all 3 pins individually in the center of the tang. You can't draw one line left to right along the tang and have your pins centered on the blade if your tang has any bend in it. Follow me now?

ok doyle i see what u are saying now. let me ask this though. If the handle curves like mine does at the end then wont u end up with quite a bit of staggered line to them? hope that came out right not sure if i understand what i wrote lol.

I do understand what you wrote but what you have NOW is a staggered line. Yes they won't be in a straight line, but they will all be in the center of the material no matter what the tang shape is donig at that given point. Picture a knife in the shape of a wavy circle? Many people put the thong hole off center on purpose, myself included, so if you were to go with two pins and a thong then you simply place the thong where you want vertically and align the hole horizontally just like before. Please understand that I am not criticizing you, I simply do not want you to make the same mistake again. Trace around your pattern on a piece of paper and mark your pins out as I explained and you will see that it looks right even though in your head it may not now.

no im not taking what u say as bad trust me, yeah i see how u set up the pins and ill be doing this on my next blade that ill be starting this weekend. i have a pair of calipers so i can get it spot on easy.
