Hello,
This one took me a LONG time and nearly didnt make it into a knife at many points! I had various learning curve mistakes since this is the second folding knife I have made. I dont even know how many hours I spent adjusting parts on this thing!

It snaps with backspring flush at open, half stop, and closed.

I am beyond happy with how it turned out, but learned the following during this build:
-I suck at nail nicks. This was my first but I am not too happy with it. I need a flycutter to put in those beautiful curves. See next comment:
-A milling machine would come in handy a number of different ways, and is next on my shop list. I want to mill away the liners to stop visible scratches on the tang and my current drillpress is a POS hog that I fight all day long. I also could use it for nail nicks.
-My fingers HURT from working with all these small parts. I cut myself twice and sanded my thumb, then through a bandaid back into the same spot again.

In all, I had a blast and am looking forward to the next!

Specs:
1/8" 1095 Blade and spring
.05 TI Liners
416 SS Bolsters
Desert Ironwood burl handles scales
3.75" closed, 6.75" open

From the looks of it,I'm sure it was worth the pain David, beautiful job:thumbup:Regards Butch

I really like that knife a lot. I like the execution and the choice of materials, but to me it looks like an old fashioned design of a user knife.

If I look at that and picture the mosaics as solid brass and the ironwood as some kind of blackened wood, it would look like a knife from the Cowboy museum.

Great work - especially the design!:thumbup:

Dave, the knife is great for your second one. yes, a milling machine is needed, but you will get all things in due time, keep the spirit alive in desire. an you will be ok good job man!

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone! In all I am just so excited to be making folders...I feel like a new maker again with so many possibilities flying through my head! It feels like a Zen mind, Beginners mind kind of thing, if you know what I mean by that.

Hopefully I'll be able to keep up the shop time and get some folders up for sale in the coming months.

Its really beautiful David. I'm super impressed!
