Hey guys I'm kind of new here and need a little advice.I've not used butterflies for about 10 years and the last one I owned I had bought from Pacific Cutlery(model?)But now I've gotten the bug again to own one and want to get some ideas.I am fairly adept at beg. and inter. manipulations after checking Clay's site and I'm wondering should I start with the cheapies or go straight for a decent one(ex. BM42)By the way the PC Balisong got traded away about 10 years ago because I owed money. Thanks

John, I have much the same history. I got back into it about two years ago. I couldn't find any benchmades, so I bought a couple of Jags. I couldn't have been more disappointed! Compared the PC's I used in the eighties, they were junk. Even the old beat up valor I found in a box when moving, that got me hooked again, was ten times the knife. If I hadn't bought a Benchmade, I would have given it up. If you can, by the BM42. It's worth way more then 10 Jag's or Bears.

Hey Big John, welcome back to the Balisong obsession.

JamPrit nailed it.......... if you can afford a BM 42, do it. You won't regret it, thats for sure.

Both of mine have survived merciless slam sessions daily (since about April), and they just keep begging for more...... which I'm MORE than happy to give.

Because......
getting 'em open
is half the fun!

Jaguar and MGCs are good for a start, or if your on a budget. but if you can get a 42, get it, but be prepared to WAIT for a long time.
