I received a Case Tony Bose saddlehorn in a trade, and would like to know the proper name of the secondary blade. It is not a spey blade, and it is not a Turkish clip. I have seen this type of blade before, is it just called a scimitar blade? I got a saddlehorn with antique bone scales, but this one is not mine...

I believe that's simply a "skinner"?

Ed.: Yeah! What he said!

(Beautiful knife.)

It's a skinner! Tony used that blade because people don't use big spey blades like
they use to back in the day... It's a more useful blade combo! I think that's the deal..

I think technically it's a trailing point skinner blade, but most people just call it a skinner.

I also would call it a trailing skinner blade...if not for the upsweep it would be a soddie blade to my eye.....nice knives.........FES

The Case Saddlehorn has the nicest clip blade profile I've ever seen. I really like the way they've done the swedge in particular. (The skinner is nice, too!)

Really like the damascus version, thanks for sharing. Thanks for the responses guys.

On a trailing point skinner the point is higher than the back of the blade, this is a skinner like in a folding hunter. Very usefull blade and you can put it in front of the clip blade.

Yes indeed. The 'secondary' skinner in a FH pattern is very useful, and I use it more like a primary blade.

That blade config in the saddlehorn (clip + skinner) is a very attractive setup.

Thank you for explaining that Tony....i never knew that was the difference............FES

I knew the difference, but am so blind I thought the tip WAS higher than the spine!

That pattern newer cought my intrest before, hardly didnt realise it existed. But it has a resemblence with my all time favorit pattern the PUMA 667 prospector. Is that the 3.5 modell. Very nice pattern. I saw one in one of the internet dealers to but with very much etching. Can they be found in CV.
