This would be a great place for buyers and sellers of emerson customs to communicate. A specialized forum apart from the low end stuff typically sold in the other forums. Anyone interested in selling any of ernie's customs?

Doesn't look like many individuals are attempting to sell any Emerson Customs. Anyone have anything for sale? E-mail me.

I would be in favor of encouraging this forum to become a de facto Emerson Exchange as Jackstraw suggests. It would eliminate alot of tirekicking by folks who have no intentions of buying, and it would ensure a knowledgeable trading post. And it would be in our - the active Emerson community - best interests to have a place where rational pricing might occur! Since Ernie doesn't moderate here anyway, most of the threads are simply like-minded collectors trading ideas - why not extend it to trading knives too? I'd be much more likely to part with some of my Emersons as trades than as straight sales.

Hey Guys,

All you need now is David T and JBravo and you'll have all the "usual" suspects!

The knive are out there, it's just that most of the memebers of Bladeforums connect Emerson with a factory knife now.

There are member who come here routinely who did not realize that Emerson made a "custom" CQC7, they don't know what a Viper series knife is and are amazed that Emerson made a fixed blade other than the LaGriffe.

Question? Why is it that Dick "Rogue Warrior" Marchinko, no longer carries an Emerson knife in his books. Hard to believe that his beloved Emerson Knives could be so easily replaced by a Spyderco or Gerber (what ever the factory knife was).

Things that make you go hmmmm!

Les

Most of us Custom collectors are familiar with your site and are probably customers of yours as well. I've read posts in here of different knives you've had posted on your site but missed seeing them, (such as the full dress, and the Damascus CQC6. Do you still have those scans that you could put up on this site, that we could drool over? I understand your need to maintain bandwidth and the need to remove those scans on your website, but here they may get more coverage with forum members accessing old posts. Thanks! Also when is that vindicator due in?

If this works you should see a picture of the CQC6 damascus

Hey Les,
"David T & Jbravo" the usual suspects? I don't get it. Are you saying that we're buying up all the Emerson????

Well for the record, I only have two customs. But still looking for the ever elusive CQC5.
David

While I am not quite ready to get rid of anything yet, I do think it is a good idea to keep this "in-house". I would rather my CQC5 went to someone who really wants it , rather than as an investment to a collector. In regards to t he Marckinko thing, I think there was a falling out over the "Warrior" fixed blade. I have a very early one that was called the "Rogue Warrior" and I believe there was some conflict over the name and licensing. It is the best fixed blade fighter I own. It seems that business and money can often times ruin some good friendships and collaborations in this goofy business. Just my two cents.

Hi Neyti,

You are exactly right about why Marchinko does not use an Emerson knife in his book anymore.

However, that opens up a whole can of new worms. So was Marchinko saying the Emerson knives were so good only because he got them for free?

As for the Emerson Rogue Warrior, I can see why Marchinko was upset. Why would you want your name on a poorly designed, out of balance and way to heavy of a knife. If you think that is the best youve ever held. Do yourself a favor and put something by Brend, Broadwell or Siska in your hand. You will be amazed at just how clunky the Rogue Warrior feels.

Nyeti, you can give me the CQC5, I really want it and I will take great care of it for about 30 seconds. This is my second favorite Emerson folder (1st being the CQC7). Nyeti, I actually had the first one of these ever made. Sold it last year for $2,500.00.

AzWilly, good job with the picture.

DavidT, Jackstraw, JBravo and Tamishigiri and I have been buying and selling Emerson's for a long time.

Tamishigiri is the only one I know who occasionally gets knives from Emerson. Mostly because he is a major league "suck up". I wish I knew how to put one of those smily faces on here! If you knew Tami you would know that nothing could be farther from the truth. Actually he uses his powers to confuse Emerson with the Jedi "Mind Trick".

I think it would be a good idea for you guys to set up a collector trading board. Perhaps you should suggest this to Mike. No selling, just trading. I think this would find a big following. Keep at the custom level and it should do fine.

Les

As one of the "usual suspects" I must agree that a trading board would be fine. Heck, if we traded directly, we could even cut Les out of the middle! (Insert my smiley face here). Seriously, though, I think the idea has merit, if only for the fact that between the people posting on this thread alone there is probably more knowledge of Emerson knives and more ownership of them - especially the rare and unusual - than anywhere else outside of his shop (and maybe there too). As I stated earlier, I'd be much more likely to part with a "only one in civilian hands" Emerson custom if I was getting that CQC6-with-a-thumb-stud-not-a-disc in return. It would sure beat some of the lengthy threads seen here regarding the quality issues on EKC knives... At least, that is this "suspect"'s two cents.

What is really weird is that I opened this thread on Sept 16 and had only one reply until yesterday. Sniper...thanks for reopening the thread. Now all we need is some merchandise in play. I still yearn for the Viper 2, Viper 4 and Rhino to complete my collection of folders. Can anybody hear me?

Isn't it great to finally open up the Emerson Thread and finally see some posts!

Great looking knife Azwilly! Is this one of the "early" Damascus CQC6's or one of the later ones that I believe Emerson sold last year at the Blade show? Thanks for the post!

Jackstraw, I sent you a message yesterday on your neck knife. I really wasn't aware that "jackstraw" and A....."email address" was the same individual. Here's hopeing you and I both find a Viper 4 for sale soon! By the way how many of us have either a Viper 4 or a CQC 5 on order with Earnie? I don't, thinking that it's kind of a waste of time, but of course if he'd take the order without a deposit I'd order one simply with the hope that some day it'd show up.

I think we'll find that a rather small group will have interest in this small part of the forum, and unfortunately I don't think that only trading custom Emersons would work, simply because most of us aren't ready to part with what we have, and are in fact anxious to purchase what we want, rather than trade off something we already have. But it's great to see some action here among ourselves!

Hey Les, While I certainly respect your opinion on the Rogue, I have handled Brends, owned some very cool Hammonds, and they just don't fit my hands. The Rogue is like a glove. I am certainly not a gifted martial artist with regards to knife work, I just know what works for me. I can also qualify my opinions on the Rogue in that Tamishigiri covets it-that alone makes it special, or at least he can probably vouch that it is not as bad as your making it out to be....or are you just dogging it to get me to trade it (put a computer dummy smiley here) in. I think a trading board would be great, we can keep all these gems in the family.

Les and Nyeti, you guys are dead on about why Rick Marcinko(no h in there Les) no longer writes in the Emerson. Originally he went from that to the Bob Spear Fieled Fighter. Anyone know why that one dissapeared?
In my opinion the CQC6 is good as a combat folder for Ernie's price but the aftermarket prices are crazy. One guy at the NY Show had one for $1000. No way. I prefer JW Smith and Terzuola personally but to each his own.
BTW, Les, do you think that during the discussion over the Rogue Warrior name that Marcinko got threatened with an ass kicking like others do?

Hey all...

I love the idea of an Emerson trading forum here. I'd love to see if anyone has anything to make me part with my beloved all-black titanium finished CQC8. You want to talk about a knife fitting my hand like a glove, that'll do it. Gawd, I wish my scanner was up so I could post a pic!
Hey, I have a Rhino on order with Emerson. Gotta check up on when that one's coming in...

Why yes officer, I DO use that to open my mail...

In regard to collecting and putting knives on order: In June of 1995, I was told by the Emersons that my wait for a Viper 4 would be four to six months, and CQC6's were running 18 to 24 months. As you may surmise, I am "close" to getting the Viper but it hasn't been delivered yet. In that time I've never actually seen one nor have I ever met anyone who had. Bought and sold two Rhinos in the same period of time, by the way. So I think that the Viper 4 is THE most elusive of all Emersons! Anyone have one? I'm available for interesting trades if you do!

Might be interested in a trade for a Viper 5/Rhino for my CQC8. I stress the word MIGHT!! It'd have to be an Emerson custom, anyway, and a really good one at that. I've gotten rather attached to my 8.
