Is there any useful Facebook pages or anything where people list their old shop equipment after they upgrade? I’ve browse the forums here, and craigslist, which is good for stuff like older mills, etc.

But I’d like to try to find someone who outgrew an early kiln, or bought a different disk Sanders just curious if you guys know of anywhere else to look?

I find the best way to get these things is word of mouth with friends and family ... known today as networking. Let people you know that you are always looking for used shop and smithing stuff. You may get a call someday and be offered nice stuff just for coming and getting it.

Don't be afraid to drop by an old machine shop and tell them what you do and that if they ever have equipment they outgrow or no longer use you would love a chance to give it a new life. Watch the papers and other sites for estate auctions and going out of business sales.

I’m not aware of any specific knife maker classifieds per say, other than checking the for sale forums here, and the various other knife making forums (some of them have sub forums a little more geared towards tools and such, but they’re not super active) Other than that, there’s Facebook market place (as well as various sales groups) Craigslist, and don’t forget eBay, sorted nearest first.
Around here (NW Indiana) we also have “the bargain finder” which is a local classified paper that comes out once or twice a month. You might have something similar by you.

I have had good luck posting "wanted" ads wherever I can. Sometimes an index card at a place like Tractor Supply, or Southern States bulletin boards yields hidden gems.
I'm currently scrounging for a press build.

I usaly get my best deals by repurposing things. Some times you have to think out of the box but usually you end up with something really nice. I once got a dewar from a thrift store for $10 because it was labeled “milk can” lol. You always need to be looking. When ever I have nothing to do or I’m just sitting g on the couch I hit up Craig’s list or face book and just start searching for anything my mind can come up with. You would be surprised at what’s out there.
