For the ones who liked the Bartender knife I showed (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=756442), I think you're gonna like this too...

In that post I said it was a trial for another proyect... well, this is it.

It's a similar concept to the previous, but the difference in mechanism is that the corkscrew is hidden under a cover. When you actuate this cover, the corkscrew point is lifted, and you can open it with your fingernail.
I don't need to tell that it wasn't easy for me to manage three moving pieces with o single spring...

Materials are damascus (1095 &15n20) for blade and corkscrew, made by Marcial dos Santos; titanium liners (filworked, jeweled inside and heat colored); stainless 420 spring and Bolher N678 cover.

Scales are sterling silver 925 and were made by David Saco.

There is a video showing operation.

I hope you like it!
Thanks for looking!

Javi

That's a remarkable knife you made! Very well done!

Excellent. That turned out fantastically. I would love to see how the mechanism works, and how to make a corkscrew like that.

Thanks to all of you!
Cubane: The mechanism is very simple (in theory, to make it right...). The cover acts as a cam (is that the correct word?) that raises the corkscrew point when it´s fully opened.
Here are some pics about corkscrew making. You just have to follow a pattern with a chainsaw file, and try to make it neatly.

That looks awesome. The snap on that thing sounds tight (kind of like the walk and talk of a slipjoint).

Thanks for those pics on the corkscrew making. I might have to give it a go sometime, I am sure you have made it look easier than it is. Is the cover of the corkscrew held closed the same way as the blade or is it just friction holding it closed?

Thank you too!

Cubane, just try. You may need some elbow oil and a little patience... but is not impossible. In the second pic you can see (behind, over de vise) a bronze sample I first made for practice.
All three moving pieces held closed or open with the same spring.
