So I was sitting on my porcelain throne this morning, flipping through the Cold Steel Catalog. And came across the Secret Edge and Brave heart. I've never handled any of them. but was wondering what makes these two so different from one another? Besides the obvious differences in blade length which is only 1/2 and inch plus a belt clip on the Brave heart. How would these two blades stack up to one another? And would the price differences be worth it? (Secret edge retails 35.99 vs Brave Heart Retails 84.99) <--- From catalog Prices.

The Braveheart is a little larger with a slightly more narrow blade shape. It has jimping on the spine. The handle is Kray Ex and it has that awesome thumb groove that is inspired by Scottish boot knives. The handle is a little longer and thinner.
The Secret Edge is a little smaller and the blade is a little wider. The jimping is chunkier, fitting with that beefier design aesthetic. It has faux G10 handle scales as opposed to the Kray Ex. It's still very slim and (like the Hold Out) it's very light

As you can see, there are a few differences, but some of which you kinda just have to feel.
I always think of the Secret Edge as a fixed blade version of the Hold Out. The look and feel are very similar. It's thin and light and the holes in the handle offer superb traction.
The Brave Heart has that almost "sticky" Kray Ex and a thinner butt.
I would recommend finding a local dealer and checking them both out. Once you get them in-hand you can see that they are very different.
If you are local come hang out at our showroom and try them out. You would be very welcome :)

I wish i was local to you guys. But then id be pretty broke...lol Thanks for the info!
Too bad I dont have too many brick and mortar stores that carry a nice selection of cold steel to choose from :( But my gun shops sure love emersons and spyderco...

Yeah, it's worth it. Have the Secret Edge, Hold Outs, and Brave Heart. The Brave Heart wins for comfort in hand, hands down. I do carry my Hold Outs a ton, though. the folder with a thin profile and still such a great style blade. Kudos Cold Steel for that one. Secret Edge coming to the SF thread soon. Sheath is TOO BIG for a neck knife IMO.
