I'll start by saying that I have been a fan for years now, ever since I got my Traimaster. Since then I have acquired 6 of your machetes , 5 folders and a lightweight bowie spike. I like them all. They are very good quality for the money and the engineering is excellent.

Now, I just received two mini tac which I bought on the holidays on sale. The Beaver and the Kiradashi. The beaver is nice no complaint there, actually I love it. But, as for the Kiradashi, I'll explain. It came unsheathed and the blade was in a cardboard sleeve. I checked the edge and boy was it WICKED sharp! I tried to put it in it's sheath, but unlike the beaver, the fit was not good, I had a hard time putting it in, I guessed it just need some wear...SO I pulled it out, making sure the back of the blade is pressing against the inside of the sheath there as I always do....but guess what...like others have reported...the razor like edge was completely gone! All that is left is the bevel...

Here is my question: What is the point of using this sheath material instead of kydex, just to saves of few bucks on the MSRP, if It'll ruin the edge like that?

I don't know if this knife is worth having paying a custom maker to make a real sheath for it, it doesn't even have real G10 handle slabs....there regular plastic.

They are a little tricky to get in the sheath correctly. Go slow. Mine has been in and out about 10-15 times. It cuts paper ok and will shave with a little pressure. I bought mine for $23-$25. I am very happy with the price and the unusual blade configuration. It is more of a hot weather self-defense back-up or conversation piece for me. I am not going to use it too much. The tip is too fine.

I can only speak from my personal experience, but I have encountered any dulling of my knives due to Secure Ex Sheaths

I don't know about Secure X but I have experienced edge dulling from molded sheaths where glass is an ingredient. I agree, it's very frustrating.

Thanks Mike, but I waited a little been in no hurry and have been contacted back today. I am expecting a replacement sheath in the following weeks. I just may but harsh on the edge, but if that's the case, I though about lining the inside of the sheath where the edge set with a little epoxy...perhaps that would fix the issue
