Secure Ex sheaths can dull your edge

I tried the same as the guy in the video twice with a shaving sharp blade. After dragging my edge a few times on the sheath, the blade would not slice through paper. The problem is when you sheath and unsheath a knife because the edge can drag on the inside of the sheath and dull over time. Has anyone noticed this?

And scratching of the blade too on some. I usually carry in leather since luckily that is mostly what I have.

I don't drag my edge on the sheath. Problem solved.

This does make an argument for the use of leather and cordura sheaths, doesn't it?

I have two knifes that came with the Securex sheath: G.I. Tanto and a Bushman. I am not impressed with the sheaths.
My Cold Steel "Heavy Machete" and Magnum Kukri's nylon sheaths are much better than the "Securex". For one thing, you don't have to fight the sheath to withdraw or sheath the knife, and in the case of the Bushman, there is a dang clip that can pop off when you put the knife in the sheath. With the clip gone, there is NO "secure" involved. the sheath falls off the knife under its own weight.
I'll not buy another blade with a "Securex" sheath. Give me nylon and/or leather. Something that can be trusted.

I keep my San Mai III Master Hunter in a Spec Ops Combat Master Mini Sheath, my SRK a Spec Ops Combat Master Short Sheath, and my Recon Scout in a Spec Ops Combat Master Long Sheath. I get my knives out of the Securex Sheaths pronto. They will dull your blade quickly.

I've got the old nylon Bushman Bowie sheath with knife. I'd offer to trade you if I thought the shipping cost would be worth it.

Baryonyx still sells the original Bushman with the nylon sheath. Forgot to add that supposedly the big river bookstore has GI Tantos with the cordura sheaths, although they run nearly $40.
