Hi Guys,

My name is James. I live in South Africa and have recently joined this forum, much to my utter delight I may add.

I would like to know how does one fix and ensure that this Sam Browne stud stays in place and not unscrew itself over time. I saw it in the roughout thread and it got me thinking. I really want to make a sheath and use this stud.

I look forward to your advice herein and thank you in anticipation.

James

Thread locker.

In the States the most recognized brand is Loc-tite. Red formula is permanent, blue is removable, but requires re-application if removed.

Others use JB Weld, a two part metallic epoxy.
If nothing else, a dot of super-glue would probably be fine. I believe CA can lose its bond strength with a hard impact, but that's probably not likely on the stud.

Welcome aboard!

In a pinch a drop of plain old Elmers white glue is about the same as blue Loctite.

Yep, blue loctite is probably better of course as that is what it is designed for. Have used Elmers on my own tack many, many times.

Loc-tite or if you don't have that borrow your Wife's , Girlfriends , Daughters , Mothers Nail Polish .
A small drop of Nail polish will stop it ever coming undone by accident . What ever you use make sure the stud is clean and free from and oils or dirt or the effectiveness of what you use will be greatly reduced .
