Securing BK2 to standard Backpacking pack?

All,
I'm looking for a way to secure my Bk2 to my Osprey backpacking pack, either to the vertical shoulder straps, or to the hipbelt. Currently I use a Teklok belt attachment with the standard BK2 sheath for horizontal belt carry (left side). I'm trying to find a way to keep the Tek Lok intact, and strap it to the left shoulder strap (as it is much thiner than the pack's hipbelt), so that when I'm backpacking it is easily accessible with the pack on, but also easily removable so I can reattach the Tek Lok to my belt without the pack on. Now, as this is a standard backpacking bag, it does not have an integrated molle system. I was thinking I could try the Becker TDI cordura straps but am not sure they will work with anything save the LDK knifes... anyone have any thoughts/experience with this? Obviously, I will tinker as much as I need to, but thought it best to ask here first before going out and making purchases that will wind up failing from the get-go. Thanks!!

Interested in the mounting options as well. I carry a Kabar discretely on the left side of my pack, tip up. Using 550 to tie on to pack straps and later will make loops to use carabiners instead. The knife falls naturally into ice pick grip when needed. Resheathing is not too swift but that's not the point.

What about para-cord ? Has to be some way to attach it with that. Or, use some velcro straps. You can get them at lots of places now. You could even use velcro watchbands as straps, if they are long enough.

I've used 550, which absolutely works as a band-aid... I'm just looking for something a little more permanent; something that I can quickly remove from either belt or shoulder strap, and reattach to the other without any tying needed. Velcro is what I was thinking... maybe just get some heavy duty thread, sew it into the shoulder strap horizontally so that I can just clip in the Tek Lok. I like the carabiner idea... could do that on the top to one of the existing loops and then do velcro around the midsection to keep it from banging around. Well, I think I've got my weekend DIY planned, thanks guys. I'll post a couple pics once I figure out the right setup.

If you don't have any strong or heavy duty thread, try using dental floss to attach the velco to the bag.

Give us some pics of where you want it from all kinds of angles, then we can help you easier.

Just a thought, but do you carry a blade on your person? The reason I ask is if you we're forced to drop ruck for whatever reason or become separated from your pack it'd be well advised to not have your only knife with said pack. Pix of the pack would help. 550 and/or zip ties are always great options.

When out in the Sticks, I always have a back up. For me it's the EsKaBar tucked snug in my pocket (when the pack is on).
As to the rest, thank you again for all of your suggestions, but I now must "fall on my sword"... or Becker, as it were. I had my old ruck in mind when writing this thread, but just noticed on my new pack that there is already a perfect vertical strap on both shoulder straps that fits the Tek Lok perfectly. It jiggles a little left and right - but that's an easy fix. What can I say, I already had a permanent solution... though I still might sew a nylon strap on the hip-belt just to give me another carry option. Anyway, I guess I spoke too soon. Thanks again anyway guys!

I just Googled "velcro straps" & some nice ones came up for $4-$8. Can't beat that. Take pics & post em up anyways. Maybe you will help someone else out.

I would just save the trouble of this problem and get a different bag that is a little easier and made to attach extra gear like an old school Alice or maxpedition, rush, etc..then your problem will be over.

I keep a BK14 on my hiking bag, to me a BK2 is a little large for a chest strap on a bag for any real mileage. I use paracord or zip ties.
