See any Difference?

Check the listings again and you will see that they are both ended. I contacted him this morning and he immediatly ended them and sent this reply.

Dear meng_tdcq2010,

As I'm sure you already know, the knife that you are listing as a Buck brand knife is a counterfeit. I'm a life member of the Buck Collectors Club and have a close relationship with the company and members of their Executive board.
I'm sure that you are going to tell me that some Buck knives are made in China which is true, but your's is not one of them, it is a cheap counterfeit. I have access to every Buck catalog going back over 20 years and I can assure you that I know what I'm talking about. The knife is not a Buck brand knife and never was.

A link to your auction has been forwarded to the staff at Buck Knives Inc. and you can expect them to have eBay close down your listings for selling counterfeits and for copyright and trademark infringement. I have also notified eBay of your fraudulant listing.

This is the second time I've notified you that you are listing fake Buck knives.

The fake "Buck" box being partially covered, doesn't make it acceptable even though the Buck on the blade has been edited out.

"Dear plumberdv,

I will correct right away. Thank you!

Oh well I "thought" I did some good.

That's cool but I've found that reporting them to eBay is like farting in the wind so I went the other route. This seller ended all his listings for the fake Bucks last time I sent him almost the same message. I've kept an eye on his auctions since then and just saw these this morning. I don't suppose there's any thing that can be done about the second knife in your pictures since he says nothing about Buck in the listing. Here's the other one he ended today that I mentioned.

I see now that there are several more listed with the Buck box partially covered. Off to work again!

It's too bad ebay has such a piss poor attitude when it comes to this sort of thing. Every time you report you get the same old boiler plate response and nothing happens. They don't care, they get paid for listing and selling and unfortunately thats all they care about is their money.

It does seem that a little pressure from people other than eBay does some good, even if it's just temporary. Some of the responses are funny though. I sent a message about the fake "Buck Bayonet" with the fake Buck sheath to a seller in Thailand. He ignored the message so I did a Buy it Now on one of his auctions (he sells them two for $44.88). I got them last week and left him negative feedback.

Yesterday I received a notice from eBay that my money had been refunded in full. Shortly after that I received this message e-mail from the seller.

"Dear plumberdv,

"Hi David Hallmark

Thank you for your business.
However, sorry to hear about your feedback "Knife and sheath are JUNK. Neither are made by Buck, they are COUNTERFEITS!."
We have check with our supplier. You are right. It is counterfeits product.
So, we have sent you fully refund for $44.88 by paypal. Please check your paypal account. Your Transaction ID is #8WN6791732289625X.
Now, we would not like to sell this kind of products any more. However, we afraid that if we remove all our listing, other buyer will be frightened and they all give us negative feedback. So, we increase the price and hope that nobody will buy at these prices. A few weeks from now, we will end all listing.
Please keep the knifes.
We would ask you to revise your feedback. Your feedback is very important to us.
We promise that we will do business with integrity only.
If you have any suggestion/inquiries, please kindly let us know.
Have a nice day.

Best Regards,
Pairuch Srinakarin"

I particularly love the part in red! He raised the price for two of them $10.

With all due respect to those of you who have posted otherwise, I can understand ebay's "reluctance" to deal with these sort of issues. With all the thousands (probably millions) of items listed on ebay, it would be absolutely impossible for them to be knowledgeable about each and every one, as to which might be fakes. Having someone contacting them with information that a seller's listing is a "fake" is very problematic at best. Just because someone contacts them and "informs" them that an item is a fake is basically your word against that of the seller, and if they pull an item, based only upon your report, and it turns out to be legitimate, they would most likely be subject to potential legal action. Furthermore, a competing seller could likewise "report" another seller of the same item just to have it pulled, thus eliminating the competition.

ebay is basically no different than any other business where the buyer needs to be as knowledgeable as possible as to the merchandise that he buys.

You are absolutely right. I know that in the past, reps of BKI have gotten auctions pulled, but I'm sure it takes time and effort on their part and for the small numbers of these things isn't worth the time and effort to find them and do something about them.

That's one of the main reasons that I quit reporting them to eBay or Buck for that matter. eBay won't take our word for it and Buck probably doesn't have the time. So far I'm doing pretty well getting rid of some of them just by sending semi-threatening messages to the sellers. I've had very few ignore me (to their detriment) and , besides, it's great entertainment!;)

There you go...having fun and doing some good. This works on many levels. Personally I enjoy most the mangled English responses.
Cheers!

And the plea's of ignorance!

By NO means am I defending them but they could've purchased thinking they were Bucks.

Until I started spending to much time on here (BF);) I had no idea that there were counterfiet Bucks being sold. Not that I didn't think it could happen, but just never thought about it.

I do believe that some of them were totally ignorant of the fact that they were fakes. In fact, they may not even be aware that there is a company in the USA that owns the trademark. Some of those I contacted and who immediately ended the auctions, didn't have any other knives listed, just a bunch of other cheap trinkets and gadgets. The knives were probably just something they picked up and felt they could make a few bucks on.

I'll also come to their defense as far as their command of the English language. To a man, they do a vastly superior job of reading and writing English than I (and I suspect the vast majority of us) could ever hope to do with the Chinese language!

But you, like me, have no reason to learn chinese, it has nothing to do with your livelyhood, or any other importance.

When one owes a country umpteen trillion dollars, perhaps one should begin learning!! :)
