I am set with my razors, and own an Omega boar, but am interested in moving up to a badger, and the choices are daunting. I like Omegas, Edwin Jaggers look good...any recommendations, never mind Simpsons, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Do you face lather or bowl lather? Soaps or creams? These make a difference. Also, don't think of it as "moving up" from boar, just trying a different path.

I face lather, using AOS unscented cream. And that's a good point, it Is just a different path, but a very satisfying one.

I did a bit of research for you while hanging out on the wet shaving forums, and a few brushes kept popping up again and again for face-latherers:

If you are okay with sticking to boar, the Semogue 1305 seems to get rave reviews from face-latherers, and it's only $20. If you want to try a badger brush and money is not an issue, the Simpson Duke 2 and 3 seem to be the consensus kings for face-latherers. They are about $90 and $130 respectively. Hope this helps.

Personally, I bowl lather creams, so I need a floppy, big brush. You want something with a tight knot, fairly narrow and not a ton of loft.

Thanks for that. Simpsons are hot topics, seem to disappear within minutes of posting. I'll check out the Semogue 1305, thanks!

Thanks for the info guys, I found a 22mm x 51 badger silvertip in a restored Fuller brush base over on B&B.

I love my Semogue 1305! I also have a 830 and they are really the only two brushes that see any real use. I also have two Edwin Jagger, a C&E and a Simpson Wee Scott all in best badger. The Simpson best is definately higher quality than the EJ best. IMHO
