Greetings BladeForum People

Recently I lost my Fairbairn-Sykes model 2 copy (manuf. Lewis).
So I am looking to buy a quality dagger with a blade 6” approx. Items I have been considering are listed, with comments, below. Would greatly appreciate any advice, experiences, information, opinions, etc regarding these or any similar knives.

Boker USA-Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Dagger.

Cold Steel PeaceKeeper 1.

Gryphon Terzuola Combat Knife GFPM30A1 (is this a copy of Bob’s old Battleguard?).

Protech Walter Brend Combat Dagger.

Mercworx Shiva Combat Dagger (never held one of these- why do they cost so damn much?).

Dead Metal Knives Queen’s Bishop (never held one of these- know nothing about manufacturer).

Thanks in advance for all constructive responses.
Regards
FB.

Apologies for cross posting.

The Peacekeeper is a great design, but there's no steel under the Kraton guards. They will keep your hand from sliding into the blade but a bad guy can slice right through them.

The Mercworx model is simply overpriced.

Go with the Böker A/F.

Why do you cross-post despite being aware that it's bad netiquette?

Thanks Quiet Storm

Yeah, the boker seems a sensible choice.
However I'm still to decide.

this maybe a fax paus but a post without response is of no use**

Thanks again

If I was going to get a big dagger, I'd get the SOG Pentagon (only a 5" blade). The sheath is sort of heavy-duty, so I'd have to get something more discrete (and I believe Survivial Sheath Systems carries these):

I'll second the A-F Combat Knife. The knife is well-balanced, the handle is very comfortable, and I like the angled guard for the sabre grip. I also have a couple Peacekeepers. The blades are good but the handles and guards are not that great. With either knife you'll need a custom sheath if you want to carry it concealed or low-profile. Both of mine came with regular belt sheaths. Another good dagger is the Gerber Guardian II. Since it is not as popular as the Mark II it is possible to find them at reasonable prices if you shop around.

While not a dagger in the true sense of the word, the Camillus CUDA CQB-1 is worth a look.

Forgot to say: welcome to the forums!

You submitted this thread only 4 hours after opening the one in the Reviews section.
Please keep in mind that this is not a chat. Sometimes it takes several days until you receive a reply to a post, but it's usually worth the wait. :)

By the way, take a look at the Fällkniven G1 Garm Fighter. It's significantly smaller than the Peacekeeper or A/F, but it's a nice design and well-made.

Thanks Glockman

Yes your suggestion had been on an earlier 'list of possibles'
The Camillus CUDA CQB-1 & the Gryphon seem very similar.

Would love to own an original BattleGuard but I guess the Camillus or Gryphon is the closest I will ever get to a Terzuola original.

Thanks.

I've owned 4 or 5 of the CQB-1, and one of the (slightly longer) Gryphon M30A1, and eventho the M30A1 is closer to the original Terzuola, I like the handle of the CQB-1 the best, as it has an exposed full-length tang, with excellent canvas micarta scales.

Another vote for the Fallkniven G1.

With the laminated VG10 blade it should be much tougher than most daggers, and will hold a very good edge.
