Seeking Currently Made (2021) "Medium Stockman" makers...

I've been carrying a Schrade 34OT "Old Timer" stockman (3-1/4" closed) since the 5th grade (I'm 51 now). My first, a hand-me-down from my father, has long been retired (it loosened up, and I over-sharpened it as a kid so the blades are "tired"). Its replacement was lost a few years ago, and I have a China made one now.

I would like to find a U.S. or Europe made (No shade on China, but, they don't need my money as much as U.S. or European knife industries) "Medium Stockman", and I'm not having a lot of luck sorting out who even makes one!

So far, I know Boker makes some in Solingen, and aside from that? I'm finding a lot that USED to be made in the U.S. or Europe, but not sure what's being made NOW.
Love to hear other "3-1/4" to 3-1/2" closed" three blade Stockman pattern knives being made now. Factory made, or custom makers who regularly make a "stockman" (Don't know if I can afford that, but, would love to try!).

Thanks for any and all input!

You can pick up Case Stockman knives at Outdoor shops and Hardware stores.
Best to try them in person, sometimes ordering on-line can get you one with less than desirable build quality.

Buck 303 Cadet
Case 63087, 6344, 6318, 63032, - that's just four commonly found Case patterns they offer as Medium Stockman pocketknives.
There are thousands of good used and barely used Schrade, Case, Buck, Camillus, etc. on the Bay auction site.
Good luck, but it should be easy.

If you can find one and don’t mind paying a little bit for them, the 66 pattern by GEC is pretty nice. A couple of years ago dealers still had some on the shelves, but I’m not sure about now.

But for a currently made medium stockman, I would say the Case 6318 with the full clip blade seems to be almost the perfect size for a medium. Since I got this one a couple months ago, it has been my work knife almost every day since it arrived.

Hen and Rooster has a medium Stockman. They're pretty good knives, and a good value.

When these threads come up I always encourage folks to look at knives from the old makers... Queen, Schrade, Camillus, Case, and dozens of others. If you expand the choices to English and European makers, the choices are limitless. It's a buyer's market on these knives, and they can be had from relic to mint condition.

Limiting yourself to current production knives means you're ignoring 600 years of knife making history. You're buying knives that are pricey reproductions, and often have to contend with all sorts of bizarre marketing gimmicks to get them. Why put yourself through that?

You want to see some Stockmans? Wander over to the Stockman Sunday thread in this subforum. Lots of great knives there.

I think the Buck 303 is still in production.
Case makes a "standard" serpentine and a 3 3/4 inch closed sowbelly. Apologies, but I don't know the Case numbers.

Many thanks to all for the tips!

And; dsutton24 - I am not opposed to "not current" models, but don't have a lot of venue's locally to find them, and I'm always a little hesitant to buy a knife I can't pick up, hold, and examine myself. A "new" knife from reputable maker minimizes (hopefully!) getting a "pig in a poke" for an everyday carry that I'm hoping will last the rest of my life. I'm not opposed to a "new old stock" or "gently used" older knife, but on the other hand, I also DO want to support the dwindling number of makers who are making good quality "stockman" knives today.
I appreciate your taking the time to reply!

I found an old Solingen traditional that I nearly bought for myself the other day (except I have gone way over budget buying things recently),it might be ideal for you.

"As I understand the rules I cant link to it, I guess I can message you the details"?

I messaged the shop owner for you he is on holiday at the moment, its in the UK.

"vintage three blade pocket knife by BMW of Solingen, Germany. Hardwood grips enclose carbon steel blades, all blades are firm with spring and snap".

He has no connection to me just trying to help out.

There certainly are excellent used knives or vintage ones on the Net, worth looking into but needs some patience.

I'd go for CASE this one is I think, 3 5/8" so very slightly over your goal but still compact and has a Penblade instead of Spey-which I prefer. This is cv 8carbon) in Chestnut Bone. CASE has a huge array of Stockman in all manner of scales and cv or stainless for many. All currently available too.

CASE also has a very impressive warranty programme and it's worldwide as I've been excellently served by it in Europe.

I picked up a few older Schrades on the net recently. I can’t believe the value of these. For around 30-40 dollars you can buy an excellent very high quality knife. The older Queens are also excellent value.

The ready availability of these older and high quality patterns - likely thanks to the popularity of modern single blade folders - means it would be very hard for a modern factory to make a profit.

In other words, I recommend revising your goals and taking advantage of some real value.

You might want to check out the current stockman selection on our knife exchange.

Here is a 1979 Case 6318. (I have one of these from the same year. I love it because of the great snap on all three blades).
One more…

I would have ready bought the 1979 Case 6318 if I didn’t already have this one. It’s as tight as the day it was made.
