Hello All (2nd. Post)

I am on an expedition to purchase a very durable, heavy duty, hard working,
high quality Barlow.

I'm looking at the S/M #22
I like the CC versions as well
I really like a Warncliffe Blade so may need to go to the Trapper style
which is Barlow like.
The blade style is not a deal breaker just a mention.

I'm not sure I stayed on point here but I am anxious to return to see durable examples or this classic knife.

Check out the Queen Dan Burke small barlow. D2 blades, spear master, wharncliffe secondary. The only problem might be that it's too pretty to use.

Also check out the GEC Furtaker trapper/muskrat. 440C stainless or 1095 carbon steel blades.

I'll second the Queen/DB small barlow. It's just the perfect work knife. Mine didn't have the best fit and finish but it's tough and has a great wharncliffe secondary blade.

More specifically, what are you looking for?

Closed length?
Stainless or carbon steel?
Natural or synthetic handle materials?
Price limit?

Wow!
I received 4 replies right away.
I'm looking for scales that won't flake off.
A knife that fits well in the pocket of my jeans (not the Daddy Barlow)
Good Steel ( do like the old school flat gray look) Like an old Schrade so I
guess that is higher carbon.
Like I said I am looking at one like this.
Thanks in advance!

Wow!
4 reply's that quick - Thanks
I really like that Queen/DB
Looking for something to fit in my Jeans pocket
I like the look of the old steel used in vintage Schrade stock, so more carbon.
I'm not going to abuse the knife but do have a tendency to sharpen
Don't want an inexpensive Barlow that have scales that may flake off.
Delrin or some of new heavy duty synthetics would work, but hey who don't like
Sambar Stag.
Cost is relative to the quality.
The Queen/ DB has the warncliffe and that I like a lot.

Not sure of the durability of this nice looking knife

Durability of that knife will not be a problem. It is a short knife though. - Ed

Boker does have a nice looking stag barlow with carbon steel. If you really like that aged patina look, it is also possible to force a light patina on Queen's D2. I think lime juice ended up working best for me.

Hi,

I have a Boker and a GEC Barlow. Both in plain high carbon steel. The Boker is a great EDC. One of my favorite working knives. The GEC is smaller, but built like a little tank. I might be more tempted to carry the GEC more if the handle was just a little longer for my extra large hands.
