I think I might have seen him two or three times, when his mum gave me a ride to doc or Walmart. (his mum is twoth in command at the assisted living facility) He seems like a good 10 year old youngling. Very polite and respectful.

Anyway, I discovered today he is a BSA.
I gave his mum my spare Marbles MR278 Demo knife (in the box) and Marbles SPORK (no box) with instructions to give them to him when she gets home after work.
Mum was shocked, very happy and excited to get them for him.

A Demo knife is a great first knife and Scout knife. :)

I'm going to let his Troup Leader (unless things have changed a bunch since I was a BSA he'll know how) and/or her honey teach him how to safely use a slipjoint and how to sharpen it.

Nice to bring joy to someone not expecting it. :)

Way to go.
I firmly believe every kid should start with a slipjoint, start with a modern super wonder knives and they may develop bad habits or just never appreciate slipjoints.
