Was at a local big chain store today, and ran into them having a Daypacker (or so I think that was what it was called). It houses only one blade, but the frame was quite longer than the blade it houses... kind'a weird, imo. The price was fair, but did not buy it because it was only available in one color... Pink! Think it may clash with my collection... but who knows, I may change my mind and buy it later this week, lol! :-)

There are a lot of places these days with limits on legal blade length. (I know. The company I work for is one of them.) I don't have a problem with a short blade, but with many knives, a short blade means a short handle. This can result in a handle that is too short to provide a secure grip.

That Vic design allows folks to meet blade length restriction requirements and still have a handle long enough to provide a good grip.

Yeah, I guess that would definitely be a plus in certain situations... and more grip purchase seems like a good idea on a small pocket knife (aesthetics aside). But pink.... that may take some time for me to convince myself that I want this one, lol! ;-)

I like the floral knife better. It has the same handle, but a sheepfoot blade instead of the clip.

I've got one as well Sogflash, great SAK. The clip blade is quite a bit shorter than the handle, and gives a feeling of better control when cutting. Very good sheepfoot blade as well.

The Daypacker appears to be the Florist knife in various handle colors, I believe.

I bought a few when REI was discontinuing them. They are the floral knife handle with a chisel ground clip blade with a very exaggerated "clip" to the blade.
When brand new the grind was much lower quality than expected from Victorinox. I worked it out on a Sharpmaker and actually created an edge on the non ground side of the blade. Now they are razor sharp. I was hoping the TSA would have gone ahead allowing 6cm or shorter blades, the blade would have been allowed. The fact that the handle is longer than the blade is a plus, it offers a better grip.

What is that third, blunt 'blade' intended for?

It's for " Budding"
A type of grafting when only the bud of the desired variety of wood is grafted onto the rootstock or a host plant instead of a length of scion wood with multiple buds .
That blade is used to pry up the thin layer of bark without damaging it .

I prefer the Floral/Gardner version with the sheep's foot blade, but either can be had for $15.00 delivered to your door if you know how to shop. I have a red one inbound. BTW, for a clip point, I like the look of this one...vastly superior to those "California Clip" blades.
