Recently there was an interesting post with pictures on the Benchmade website concerning the sale of counterfeit Strykers model #910.

Has anyone come across one of these Stryker counterfeits or any other counterfeited knives? I'm talking about swiping a design, I'm talking about one labeled as coming from the company that really is made somewhere else. Here is the real deal.

The higher priced models would probably be the one's most likely to be counterfeited (sort of like Rolex watches are). Sebbie, Strider, etc?

There is no such thing called a good counterfeit
; )
And to answer your question, No
:)

I hear there are some Eastern Europeans and Middle Eastern tribes that can make copies of any knife or gun made. I have a friend who is overseas right now and he has a copy of a very popular custom fixed blade. He says it is a very nice copy. I've never seen any copies stateside though.

I've seen some blatant knock-offs at flea markets , but not counterfeits where they copy brand names and company logos.

Some might find this ironic but the last time I was at a flea market I saw a lot of Chinese copies of United Cutlery Fred Carter knives. Imagine... Chinese knock-offs of Taiwanese knives....
They even borrowed the model names like "Titan" and "Adventurer" but they didn't have any brand name on them.

There were the counterfeit Commanders which hit Ebay not too long ago.

Sulaco's post reminds me of that news show I saw where the reporter went to a town in Pakistan where they could reproduce any bit of weaponry you wanted. It was oddly awesome to see a guy cobbling together AK-47s and LAW rockets out back of his hut. Kinda surreal...

Sure it does to compute. Some fakes are terrible copies, some are reasonably authentic looking. We know the materials are usually garbage but the appearances can be very convincing. That's what makes a great counterfeit! An appearance that will con you into thinking you are buying something and getting the deal of the century.

Ahh, i see. so you mean "accurate" counterfit, *not* "good", right? ;)

i find counerfitting/ripoffs morally reprehensible myself, and will not purchase a counterfit, no matter how accurate it is...

but that's a rant for a different thread...

back on subject...

What got you on a morality kick? We are talking appearances here, good, accurate, close, same as, whatever you want to call it. Heaven and hell can wait for another thread.

I saw a Victorinox rip-off made by Wenger...?
I don't get that. Victorinox owns Wenger, and both companies are manufacturers of real Swiss Army Knives.

Check the Bernard Levine forum. There are always some eBay forgeries being discussed there.

Here's a decent (looking) counterfeit of a knife we all know... But at a price of $4.99 I kinda doubt it's made of titanium and S30V. :D
