THe Bob Lum designed Seiki Cut Encounter knives have interested me for a long time. I am considering ordering the smaller, Little Encounter. Does anybody have one, and how do you like it? In the one video I have seen, the liners look a bit thin, but I am not too worried because I cannot imagine Seiki City cutlers turning out a bad knife.

No, i have not used the knife.
just for collecting. it is a nice looking one, slim, and long blade and handle, although i too feel the liner seems a little thin, for its size..
the big Encounter is a long blade with a long handle; it is as long as another linerlock I have, the ZT0400 Scavenger.
With its long handle it feels comfortable in my hands.
The liner of the Encounter is about half the thickness of the Liner of the Scavenger, for both about same length of blade and handle, if this is what you can imagine for comparison or proportion study.
Workmanship of the Seki craftsmans ensure that the knife is rock solid, absolutely no play, and blade is well centred.
The black Teflon coating on the D2 blade presents some little patches of white blemishes as this limited edition knife was manufactured more than 5 years ago. get the uncoated satin finish one if you are concerned about the blemishes of the Teflon coating aging. or get the Damascus steel version.

If i have some time, I will set up and photograph the Encounter side by side with the Scavenger.

I used to own this Little Encounter with the VG-10 Damascus blade and Chinese Quince handle. It was a nice good quality knife, but I never used it.

Holy cow! The quince handle on that is amazing! I have never seen one. I actually had a micarta little encounter and used it. It is a great knife. In fact this thread has made me realize that i need to order another sometime.

The only issue I had with them (I had several of the large and small G10 and Micartas) was that long thumbstud had some gnarly knurling on it and they scratched my hand pretty good any time I reached into my RFP for change or my flat wallet that shares the same pocket with my EDC. My hand bled a few times in fact.

I had to smooth out the knurling with a Sharpmaker rod to carry them but in the end, I sold them all.

Thay are nice knives but I think the bladework is where they shine. versus the handle. The bladework is outstanding on them while I found the rest of the knife to have a retro build quality, IMHO.
