Or any other information about it.

Dude!! Crossing the International Date line must REALLY mess you up!!

The Seki Outdoor Cutlery Show is usually held the second weekend in October. It is scheduled for 9 - 10 October this year. (Koji Hara has it slated on his tour page...if you go, say hi to him for java and I hope to see him again in Vegas in January)

Yes, Mr. Java is correct. I will be there. I never miss it. ;)

I will be happy to say hello to Mr. Hara if you like. He is such a pleasant, approachable guy. He doesn't know me from any other guy there, but is always willing to chat.

I keep looking for Mr. Glesser there, but haven't seen him yet. I have found several great deals on discontinued Spyderco knives at the festival (as well as current models).

Anybody else here gonna be there? It'd be cool to have a meet. I'm going on Sunday the 10th. I'll be taking a carload of friends from Nagoya.

Hey, Java, I told Mr. Hara that you said hi. He told me he wouldn't be in the Vegas show in January, but that he'll be in Costa Mesa in December. I showed him your e-mail, as I had my iPad in my backpack.

The show was as great as ever. I was better able to control myself this year (didn't buy much), so didn't get into much trouble afterward from my wife.

I met and briefly spoke with a very friendly knife maker from Oregon, but neglected to get his name.:(. He is originally from Canada, apprenticed in Japan for 18 years and is now based in Oregon. Anybody know who he is? I feel stupid that I didn't get his name...

Sounds like Murray Carter.

Hey, Jack, you were right on. That is, indeed, the man I met at the show. He was very willing to share advice and chat about knives. I didn't want to intrude on his time, however, as he seemed rather busy catching up with a bunch of friends there.

Thanks again,

Kento

Yeah, that's Murray Carter, I just read about his trip in his newsletter, sounds like four other people that went along with him on his trip had the time of their life. He's just the best, plain and simple. Watch his work, in a few years... Sky's the limit.

He was born to make knives.

I just read the trip report. The picture with Mr. Hattori and Mr. Sakai, et.al. must have been taken within minutes of my visit to that table to ask Mr. Carter a question. I could feel sort of a vibe like I was in the company of VIPs, but holy cow! I didn't realize who those gentlemen were. I may not have been able to go to the table had I realized...
