Hi folks, I'm looking to get a new folder, and the Seki-Cut "Bob Lum Encounter" has caught my attention. It certainly looks the part to my untrained eye, but I don't think I've ever heard/read anything about them...no good comments or bad, so a bit of feedback from any owners about the build & quality of their folders would be greatly appreciated. (The knife won't be used for any serious heavy duty tasks, just envelope opening, cardboard box disposal & that kind of stuff).

Thanks in advance.

Seki-cut are the "in house" best examples of the knives we all know and love that are marketed by companies like Spyderco, only the are marketed under their local consortium name.

The various knife manufacturers that produce the "Seki City Japan" or similarly marked knives that represent some of the best quality and value knives available in the US market are produced by the same companines that make the Seki-Cut line. The Seki-Cut brand is their line, not a line made to order for US companies. Their style, their quality control, their materials selection, their marketing, etc.

Dullone, I did a search and see you have ansewed this question several times! It seems like most of the owners out there are pretty happy with their folders (might have to consider the "little encounter" after reading the comments) Cheers!

Sid Post, thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I bought a large Bob Lum Encounter from Seki Cut and it was a fine folder, a little on the large side for my taste. I love D2 and this knife had a lot of it, razor sharp right out of the box. The one I bought had the micarta scales and they ran the full length of the liners. My only complaint with the knife was the pocket clip screws, they kept stripping out on me. I replaced them twice and it always seemed like I could never get them tight, maybe it was just the knife I had. All in all I would rate this a good buy for the money.
