I've had this knife for a few weeks now. While I've been busy selling off most of my collection, I made an exception on this one.

I received this knife promply from SekiDirect. When I first got it, I thought the handles were WAY too slippery for my taste. The linen micarta, however, tends to get grippier with moisture, as I soon learned. Furthermore, this has to be the most ergonomic lock-in-your-hand folder I"ve owned in some time.

Everything about this knife is classy. The blade is super sharp, just over 3" long, in D2. It penetrates superbly. Top of the blade has a evenly polished swedge which I'm sure has something to do with it. Thumb stud is grabby but my dress pants are fine... it is set up for right hand use, but looks reversable.

Blade centers perfectly. Liner lock so far stays tight. ONE time, in the beginning, I death-gripped it and it came undone. Repeated openings and same type of squeezing have had no loosening effect since then.

Pocket clip could be a tad tighter...sometimes I worry about it not being there (lost my Delica hurrying out of a taxi). Handle edges are radiused nicely... like I said this knife is comfortable, handsome, and sharp. I recommend you try one and see for yourself.

Congrats. You've discovered one of the little known secrets in knifedom. Bob's knives always seems to have that "feel", and the balance is always spot on. It's because of that, and his clean lines, that've made him my favorite custom maker.

diamdave,

I picked up the same knife from AG Russell but with aluminum scales and black coated D2 blade. Very solid. No problems with the liner. In fact you really have to push to get this one to release. One of my pet peeves on a folder is a really good detent. I don't want a knife of even having a chance of coming open in my pocket. The detent on this knife is outstanding! Reminds me of a Boggie or Terz custom. I have to agree this is a outstanding little folder. A great effort by the guys in Seki Japan. Bob Lums designs always seem to do the trick.
:)
