I just got their Little Blue Liner lock folder today and I must say that I am very impressed. Sorry, I can't post a pic, but you can check them out at their site: www.seki-cut.com/Brands.htm This is a very nice gents folder. 2.75" blade of mirror polished 3 layered VG-10 with a decorative etched temper line. The blade is thin and carries a nice factory sharp edge. The liners are blue anodized titanium with maple burl attachments. Really attractive design. The action is smooth as buttah and it locks up with a very satisfying click. No blade play and the blade is perfectly centered. The back is open, so it is very light. I don't know why these don't get more attention. The quality is very high and at the prices they go for I would rate them as a real bargain. One caveat, they don't have clips so I'll either pick up a William Henry pocket sheath or have one made. Wish I could give you some cutting feedback, but this one is going to be a Christmas present for my son. They've got some other nice designs on their site, so check 'em out. I might just pick up that Lum folder in D2 next. :)

I haven't handled one, but have had my eye on the Lum Encounter myself. I was hoping someone else would get one first and do a thorough review ;)

Hey Jack~ Congrats on an excellent choice of cutlery. The Hiro comes in Quincewood , California Buckeye , and Black Ash. When you get ready to buy your Bob Lum let me know since I am the North East Texas distributor for SEKI CUT. By the way, I had a close friend in Tyler named John Donovan.Any relations?

I am endevoring to get a blade in each steel that is commonly used in modern cutlery, Just so I can make judgements and analyse for myself the qualities of each material. The Little Blue Liner Lock by Hiro, Seki Cut is number one on my list for a peice in VG-10. I spent many repeated moments at the Seki table at Blade West and was able to handle that fine knife among others I had a growing curiosity about.. It was sofisticated and well built and I was much more impressed with it when I handled it in person, though I was impressed with it before. It was also the ONLY liner lock tht did not jam on me during my journey through that show, and that means a lot to me who is wary of that lock type alltogether.

It also struck me as being an excelent gift to give because of its beauty, functionality, and materials....seems to appeal to all. I think it will make a fine gift for your son. :) Maybe he will offer us some insight, perhaps thru you, into its cutting performance.

It is very likely I will find myself within posession of this knife soon, considering my fondness for it and its reasonable price. I am happy to get some positive feedback to confirm my own here in the BladeForums. :D

The Lum Encounter intrigues me as well...but it seems anything with Lum in the name seems to catch my attention.

I'm not aware of any close relatives in Tyler, ThePsychologist, but we probably share one somewhere on the Emerald Isle. I think Hiro has also released some with black lip and MOP, but these get pricey fast. If you've put your hands on an Encounter maybe you could give us your impression. I know Dennis has a keen interest and so do I. In fact, why don't you email me with some info.

I agree with your evaluation, TheSkinwalkeR. I wouldn't be at all embarassed to pull this knife out to compare with any production blade I've seen, including William Henry. My son is getting his Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He usually carries an AFCK or a Matriarch. I thought this would give him something that could be whipped out around campus without causing a commotion.

Thanks Pendentive. I was hoping someone would step up and help me out. :)

no prob. you are welcome. very nice knife indeed.

Is it just me or are these knives getting very little attention?

I have been wavering for a little while on purchasing a Seki-cut knife. I have decided to order the D2 Lum on payday.

just ordered a lum encounter with ss/G10 handle.

can't wait for it.

might order either a mini lum or a darrel ralph brown rhino... which is more suitable for daily use?

wow
i never paid much attention to the seki cut line
all i have to say is MAN, i want ONE~!

or three  ;) :D

So, is there another page, that works, where we can view these knives? John in boise

Here is seki-cut's new page. It is still under construction, but it is a start. www.seki-cut.com BTW, my son was very pleased with his Christmas present. I found a William Henry clip sheath for it. It's not a perfect fit, but it works o.k. I still may send it out to Kenny Rowe for a custom.

The overall fit, finish and materials seem top shelf. These are certainly not Chinese Gerbers.

THese are fine knives and if I didn't already have a bunch of great knives, I'd probably buy one. I'll probably end up giving some as gifts anyway.

From what I understand, Seiki Cut does OEM work for Al Mar. Can somebody elaborate on this?

as far as I noticed, on top of Seki, Moki also does OEM for Al Mar... seen it on a few blades.

DEA.. can't seem to PM you.... got icq? mine's 16435116
