Select/Avid/Pro in 300 series?

As I was talking with Larry Oden today the topic came up of having blade steel options in Bucks pocket knives. Mainly the 300 series I guess. You can buy a Rush with 420HC, 154CM, or S30V. This can be said with many of Bucks models, especially with Buck renaming their limited edition knives and coming out with the select/Avid/Pro lines of many models! I know many guys that don't like or use the 300 series, but since our conversation I have been wondering how many of you guys that use and collect 301's, 303's,305's,and 309's etc. would be interested in buying some if the blade steel were upgraded? I realize they are fairly small blades and people don't want to spend alot to get a knife like that maybe, but I think it is a decent idea.

Is it worth Bucks time to make something like this happen?

How about in a limited edition run? (like the 532 in 2000 with BG-42?) (one of my favorites)

What if the BCCI were to do a run for a fundraiser knife in the future?

We discussed alot of this but, I figured this would be the best way to find out a general consensus.

What do you think everybody? :D

Thanks!

I personally would buy a 301,307,314, and 317 in 154cm quick like assuming the pricing was reasonable.

I guess my answer would procede me.........

Flat, If you get'em to make a 317 out of anything, I will throw my hat on the ground and spit on it.

Craig, I doubt your hat is in any danger. But then we did get them to make up some CS112s. No luck with the D2 in the Custom Shop so far...But I did offer to send in my own D2 bar stock to do an order. That idea must be working its way up the Chain of Command.:D

Maybe a fancy steel 301 in black celluloid, could be a BCCI knife for 09.

I think the best chance is just a standard model in premium steel. A remake of a discountinued model probably won't fly.

Hey, a Dami. 301 in black sawcut or the new grey wood. Hows that sound BCCL.

300Bucks, You can count me in for a U.S.made 307 Wrangler even w/ Sandvik steel.DM:thumbup:

Count me in... 301,317 or ???... I like the 700 series too... With new steel and handles, but no Blue Logo... :D

I wouldnt really mind what handle material is, wood or Delrin! I doubt we could talk them into a discontinued model, at least keeping the prices affordable... But its always worth a shot!
Like Flat said, a CS112 was offered for a time! Heres hoping for some slippies ;)

OK,

I am just dreaming here, a 307 and 301 as a set, in the old style with premium steel and Brown correct sized sheaths comes in a Holiday like tin with nice picture on the front. Hows that sound......shall we all incorporate as our own company and order a special custom run.........300bucks

Don’t stop there two Carbon Steel back springs (better snap), BG-42 main blade and sheep foot but the spay blade should be 420HC. A knife should be sharp but it is often useful to have a not so scary sharp blade to do things that a really sharp blade would be too much for. I vote for Maple Burl for scales.
