how do you protect part of a blade that you dont want bead blasted when youre doing the rest?

Good quality masking tape. Some use a painters tape which is a bit thicker. I have used both. It helps by controlling the direction you hit it also. For example spraying on the edge of the tape can roll it back so you hit it at an angle where the spray goes out off the edge instead of up under it. Hope that makes sense.

Mylar laminating film,contact paper,duct tape,heavy painters tape.
Anything that sticks good and has a little resiliency to it.Don't blast to long on it or you may wear through it or strip it away.
