Just a question...has anyone of you fellas every had to use your
Busse for self defense? (man or beast)

Not yet. But I can see a need in the future if my wife ever finds out what these things cost. ;)

Just last week, I had to cut a sticker bush off my leg with a Basic 9.
Lots of people say that in a defensive situation, you should run if the opportunity presents itself. Not me. I fight to the finish:mad: As soon as I loosened the attacker's grip on me, I dismembered "him".
Should have known better than to mess with somebody with over 9" of modified INFI in his grasp...

you should change the name of the forum to "The Busse Collector's
Forum" instead of "The Busse Combat Forum" the only thing I ever
see is a cut finger every now and then...(the knives are still great)

I just opened up a copy of the Cinderella II DVD with my Paul's Hatchet. A clear case of self-defense - my 5-year-old daughter was about to go on a rampage...

all these big, bad knives with no lives...it's a discredit to
INFI, such a tremendous creation, to be used for hacking sticker
bushes and an DVD cellophane

Hey Yardboy I really dont remember seeking or asking for your aproval or advice on anything, especially concerning my knife habits and use. keep such criticisms to yourself.

Thanks "Boy"

Bill

Ok. Me and the boys have taken up a collection, so that we can hire some local thugs to try to attack you. We will of course provide you with the date and time, so that you and your pals can have all the INFI you can carry on you!

The DVD having finished, I just used the Hatchet to whip up some kindling for tonight's fire, and made good use of the poll to pound in some loose nails in the woodshed.

The GB hatchet is a bit better at this, as Prof. Busse warned, but the general handiness of Paul's Hatchet is remarkable.

I'm about to use it to do all the prep work for tonight's dinner, include dressing out a 20 lb. salmon. Nothing like having an axe in your pocket at all times.

Cheers.

I was in a situation where I needed a knife, a gun would have been first pick.

I got their knife from them after it went through my arm.

I'm glad to see no one here has ever had to be in that position.
But if you ever are, it's good to know that the knife you have picked is capable of defending you and you can trust your life on it.

I always have a Busse with me now.
Never leave home with out one.
Hope I never need to use it, but know it will do what ever I ask of it.

So in the mean ime use it to chop trees, fix supper, open mail, ect...
When you need it, it will not fail you.

I don't think any of us would choose to use one of our knives for self-defense. I much prefer to avoid such a situation, however, as 1WB's has said it is nice to know that the knives we have chosen will stand up to the task if need be.

In the meantime they cut a mean box, branch or board. :D:D

BTW, lets keep this discussion civil. I will be watching it closely.

well at least your blood is boiling and maybe you're awake...what I
have in common with you is I am an avid Busse collector and believe
in the product...it just gets so boring looking at knife gallery's
constantly and inventory lists of various collections. I like adventure stories once in awhile. Put the knives to the test and write
about it. What are it's limits? How does it perform in the field...
that's what the damn things were made for!!! and MSCHWOEB, I'm going
to ignore your threats, however know for your own good, they were made
publically and are premeditated...that changes the law...

Yardboy, If adventure stories were what you were looking for, perhaps a better way to start this thread would have been to give a story of you own, and ask people tell their best in reply.

I carry a Busse at work every day as a firefighter. I could tell you stories about how it's saved my life and that of others as well, but the truth is that most knives are used for mundane purposes. I will cut open more couches and matresses for overhaul than anything else. But if I truly need a knife to save me, I know I have the best. Based on actual breakage by other forunites (exactly 2 that I know of)Busse knives have no practical limit.

As for self defense, avoidance is the best policy, followed by using the weapon that keeps your adversary at more than arms length.

I hate to have discredited my Busse by hacking a sticker bush with it, and the poor logs I split with it last night, using a 3lb. Plumb for a baton, since nothing better was available....disgraceful.
Just what do you think these "big, bad knives" are for?
They're tools.
What do you hack with yours, the neighbors?

"MSCHWOEB, I'm going

LMAO at you keyboard commandos.

I believe this thread was started with good intentions, to find out what the capabilities of a Busse knife were. The simple truth is that most of us use our Busse blades for mundane everyday tasks. If you read previous discussions on this forum you can see what they can do, how nuclear tough they really are. However, we don't go out looking for a fight just to use our knives. Nor will we shy away from one if it is encountered, especially knowing that the Busse can handle the task if necessary.

I believe this thread has served its purpose, however, if you want more information about the capabilities of Busse Knives here are some threads that cover it.

If after reading these you still have questions regarding what a Busse can handle we will be happy to discuss them.

BTW, I meant that as a joke.(always had it said that I have a bad sense of humor.)

I would much rather that every knife in existance live out its days doing very boring things. True, they are sometimes needed for other uses. But very, very seldomly.

We have countless stories of our knives being used in defensive situations and rescue operations. They have assisted in saving the lives of many innocent people. One such story was published in the "It happened to me" section of Tactical Knives. We make blades that are capable of standing up to more abuse in the field than any other knives on the planet. Those who deploy our blades in a defensive manner are "quiet professionals". . .they do not normally "kiss and tell".

As for cellophane, "We ain't afraid of no stinking cellophane" . . . in fact at a live demonstration at the 1982 Blade Show in Chatanooga, TN, we opened over 28,976 discontinued 8-track tapes (mostly from the Bee Gees and Gladys Knight). . . . and our knife still shaved. . . and that was PI (pre-INFI) ;)

I believe the saying comes from the martial arts world or maybe it's zen:

"Those who say, do not know. Those who know, do not say."
