Self-made kukri

I have made a kukri-like blade cutting a large blade from an italian machete (a "roncola"), I have some problems in made the hole in the handle. The hole must be tight to the tang or can be large and filled of epoxy?
P.S. I have some problems in writing english too, excuse me.

Try to make the hole about the size of the tang and fill it with epoxy when you fit the handle to tang. At least this is how the kamis do it.
