Anyone got a good suggestion for the following

- self supporting (no pegs required, only to secure it against storm)
- 2p - so something like 7 feet 3 " long and 4 feet wide for the sleeping area.
- some room before the innertent to cook and store 2 backpacks and hiking shoes.
- lightweight
- color green
- can be pitched without inner tent
- good materials - price can be anything

We slept under a tarp this weekend while hiking, but are looking for something more comfortable when it get's colder and wetter

For example the Hilleberg Nalo 2 would be excellent, only one downside that it requires pegs to set it up. Size/Weight etc. is perfect.

Anyone got good suggestions?

Thanks,
Ted

I was always under the opinion that if you wanna be able to sleep comfortably with some of your gear, always go the "extra person" route... a three person tent for two people... a four person for three...

OK, In this context I would call that luxerious ;)
A 3p tent would likely get to (or over) 3kg / 6lbs and I would like to keep it close to 2kg / 4lbs. Also I prefer cooking 'outside' the inter tent ( in the vestibule I think it's called).

Do a search on 'Tarptent'. It may be close to what you are looking for.

Thanks for the tips guys.
A couple others I found that came close:

Exped Auriga Mesh Extreme

Self supporting but close to 3kg

And the MSR Hubba Hubba. Very light but needs 1 tent-peg and not in green.

I like those tarptents by the way. Cool stuff.

This is how we camped last weekend

The first night was good, but the second night was colder and there was a strong wind blowing and my Snugpak Jungle pak wasn't up to that. I could have pitched the tarp differently, but at 3:00 am in the middle of the night, I couldn't sett my self to it ;)

Nice, Ted! Kinda gives me flashbacks of when I was in the Army. :D Once in a while we were allowed to put up a poncho hootch. Those bungee cords always came in handy. Your setup is a little more luxurious, though. :D Are Exped and Hilleberg tents from the same company? They look very similar to each other.

Grnamin, AFAIK they're not the same, Hilleberg is Swedish, and Exped is from Switzerland.
Hilleberg is still my favorite brand. I have a Nammatj 2 GT and that's one perfect tent!

Is your tarp a Hilleberg XP 20? I'm thinking of getting an XP 10.
