I am not sure is it belongs to Knifemakers subforum - I am not knifemake, and I guess I am general public most likely, so I post it here.

This is my first leather sheath I made for Swamp Rat Search and Rescue.

I am not sure is it common design - I invented it myself - this is layered sheath it has 5 layers each cut to repeat the form of the knife in that layer.

To saw it I use drill bit #61 and dremel - it is impossible to do other way. I first saw 3 internal layers and then add sides using same holes and anvil.

It fit inners of the sheat perfectly and does not require any belt to fix it - it is hard to take it out and for sure this will not happen accidentely.

I decided to paint it with leather dye in camo same way as knife is painted.

It was easy to paint camo - reminds me early chieldhood painting... I have to thin paint a lot otherwise it is too dark.

To attach sheat to the belt I deside to make it with laces - most flexible way to tie to belt or anything else.

Thanks, Vassili.

I found http://www.TandyLeather.com pretty useful store chain. They have not only leather for sheath and all kinds of threads, needles, colors etc.
But also:
Chicago screws for handles
Carnauba wax not only for leather but for wooden handles also
Leather laces for lainyards
And tool leather belt blanks which can be used for edge honing.

Thanks, Vassili
