Pay me a visit? :)

Depending on what they are I would purchase a membership and list them for sale.

Welcome to Bladeforums, oliverstebich!

This is a forum here, that you might find useful. They may be able to help you identify any that you have questions on. Mr. Levine also does appraisals for a fee.

Then, as stated above, it might be a good thing to purchase a Gold membership here which will enable you to sell them at your leasure. There are no fees besides the membership to sell on the exchange here.

Did you want to sell them as a lot or individually? You will probably get more money if you sell them individually but you will get rid of them faster if you sell them as a lot.

This a tough question, especially when you are starting from scratch. I think you will find that there are many people here willing to help out and point you in the right direction. Buying a Gold (or higher) membership here will let you sell them in the "Exchange" section of this forum, and there are other similar forums out there that offer the same service. Personally, I've had more success here.

One option you might consider is consignment. There are a few good consigners out there that will help you sell the knives for a commission - usually about 25%. AG Russell (the Cutting Edge) and J. Bruce Voyles are a couple. They will take you whole collection and do all the appraising and selling for you as part of the service. That's may be worth investigating if you don't want to handle the pieces separately yourself.

Ebay is also an option if you have any experience with that. There are good things and bad things about listing there, but it does get a lot of traffic and there is a high volume of knife transactions that take place there.

Good luck to you and my condolences on your loss.
