Good morning gents!
First post in this forum, never owned a Spyderco before but have been contemplating a 3.5 inch Street Beat for quite some time. This would be an EDC blade and dress knife for special occasions. I have had good experiences with VG-10 in the past and the satin/polished micarta look is very tasteful IMO. If I acquire one it will be promptly re-sheathed with a custom carbon fiber Concealex sheath by an old friend. I am still on the fence and need some justification... This will be the smallest blade I will own next to a SAK and my smallest fixed blade. If you own one of these beauties with a custom sheath PLEASE post up pics!

I love the Street Beat. It's one of my favorite knives. The build quality is excellent, very comfortable in the hand in upright or down grip. It would work as an EDC, but I like mine to put it through any abuse. I may get another as an EDC. I use mine mostly for protection on early morning walks in kind of sketchy neighborhoods. I walk about 5 miles starting at 4 in the morning and can't count on my dog for protection. She would fight for a pizza, but I'm not so sure about protecting me.
Anyways, yeah, get a Street Beat.

One of my old posts....

You are right to want one. I've EDC ed this knife for a while and absolutely Love it. I have medium size hands and find the contoured scales perfect. The butt on the tang rests in my palm while the DEEP index choil and aggressive jimping locks my hand in. I've carried it inside the waistband. If you are right handed, simply install the clip for left hand carry. Slip the sheath inside your pants where you would normally carry on strong side, leave the clip on the outside of your pants. Slip the clip over your belt. Voila! The clip will keep everything in place.

Check with your local laws before you EDC any kind of blade. I've stopped carrying fixed blades. Most municipal by laws prohibit this, where I am. Police may even try to arrest you for conceal carry.

This being said....this blade is hard to beat (pun intended).... Love the G10, But the design of the knife makes it so that you forget its on you..... Amazing! Extremely comfy to carry. Mine has extensive kitchen duty. Esthetics are another plus. It is a gorgeous knife. I'm planning to get another before Spyderco stops making them.....

You simply can't go wrong!

The Swexan said it best........" ditto on the above. its a great little big knife and mine is not for sale.it fits the hand like it grew there . go ahead pull the trigger you wont be sorry"

At this point I have talked myself into it, just looking for extra reason to get one.

Hey Bandito,

I've seen kydex custom sheaths....and I've seen pics of beautiful leather ones. You've got to be willing to send the knife to a sheath maker though. Difficult finding someone who has kept a "model" of the sheath that he has made.

Help! Any Street Beat sheath makers out there?

Examples:

Mmmm.... Just noticed that that looks like Armorleather.... He's known as Leatherman on the forums....his name is Dwayne.

Neat guy. I've had these pics for a while ....just remembered the markings lol....

BTW. If you want Kydex sheaths...look at Buy Brown (David Brown). There are plenty of examples of his work on BF (often found on Busse forum). Don't just rely on what you see on his internet site.... He does MUCH more. Very imaginative dude, I trust him a lot.

I've sent him one of my prized knives ( non Busse) and all was perfect!
I like & trust those 2 guys.... Just my 2 cents;)

.....one more lol... If you EDC a firearm, perhaps David can make a matching holster to go with your knife sheath..... Just a thought:D

Hey Nox, thanks for the heads up. I have talked with Dwayne in the past, he seems like a really good guy. I have an old friend that has done several top-shelf kydex rigs for me already, actually waiting to hear back from him regarding this possible purchase. I also have chatted a wee bit with Dave in the Busse forum, his work is extremely innovative, I have not yet owned any of his products though.

Yes I am, Otter. Guess I'm too used to seeing you at Busse's lol....

Bandito, sounds like you're all set. Glad to be of assistance. Great guys, great products..... Ditto for the knife.

Enjoy!

Its a beautiful knife and very well made. I am a big Fred Perrin fan and love the Street Beat and Street Bowie. The Beat is fairly slick, but the design still allows your hand to lock on tight. As far as small fixed blades, it my favorite that I have owned, but unfortunately I sold it to a friend that really wanted it. With all that being said, I wouldn't cry if the blade were just a touch longer though.
