Sell my BM AFCK?

Don't worry, this is not an ad or atempt to sell anything by a mere registered user as myself.
I bought a D2 Axis plain edge AFCK about two years ago, and have kept that knife in my drawer ever since, it was my first BM purchase. BM just cancelled this line, and they are going for $300 on eBay! Should I sell this knife or keep it. Will it go up in value more? If I did sell it, the money would go right back into knives, any suggestions for a new EDC.

I wouldn't sell my AFCK for $300. I have carried it for 12 yrs and its been too big a part of my life to sell. If yours has sat in a drawer and not been used, then why not?

As to value, I don't think it'll be a collector's item in the long run. I'd sell it now, because knives can be cyclical. There's a panic to get them now, so go for it, and profit from the sale. New EDC? That depends on how much you get and how much you want to spend. Let us know the answer to those two questions and we'd be happy to spend your money all day long! :D

300 dollars is a very nice turnover for two years of investment that has provided you some looking pleasure along the way. As my heart is with the beauty 800 AFCK with the round hole, I wouldn't pay 100 for an 806 for myself.

I think I'm going to sell it. I was thinking about getting a mini manix, but that leaves me with $200... I was thinking about a midsized EDC, G-10, liners, premium steel.

speaking for myself only, I would never sell my afck(mine is the older ats-34)
I carry mine every day and it has never failed me .I am now much more relaxed as I found a new one and have it waiting as a spare in case of loss breakage etc.for me the afck is perfect

I see some of the guys out there have similar tastes. How are your TI liners holding up? My is noticably worn down (almost a mm from the part that doesn't touch the tang). I would say it's "over the hill," and am being more careful now about flicking, security...

If you don't use it... I don't see a problem with getting a new knife that you're actually going to use.

mine is holding up very well, I've never "flicked" the blade open, only used the hole to open the blade. If the knife ever gets too worn down I was thinking of sending it to bm to see if anything could be done to fix it . thats part of why I have a nwob spare

If the liner wears down, the easiest fix is to get a larger blade stop pin. Should be as easy as measuring the old one and doing a little work on a lathe.

Haven't used it in 24 months? No sentimental value? Sell it and get something you'll enjoy AND use. Sebenza sounds good. :) (I've had a NIB REKAT Sifu sitting in a drawer for about 5 years. It's not "for sale", but if the "right" offer comes along - gone.)

I sold a couple on E-bay. I now regret it because I could of got more if I had of sold them now. You can get a 710 D2 for a little over $100. That $300 AFCK might be $400 next month and it might be $150.

I have three 806s and two 800s. I think two are M2 and the rest D2. I'm going to sell them on Ebay and get myself a few Busses. Those 806s and 800 are very nice but I think I should let some guy have them that wants to use them.

Well, you could ask yourself - would you miss having it, would you miss having the opportunity to ever use it

or would you never miss it, never give a second thought to having sold it.

because if you sell it, it's unlikely that you'll ever be able to replace it.

-----------------

I have the same issue, though the price considerations are different, with my 805 TSEK. It's in perfect shape, and a lot of people want TSEKs.

I just feel uncomfortable every time I go to sell it - so I don't.
But I don't carry it, either.

Because frankly I like my 710D2 better as my EDC.

Tis true Pete, I certainly can't fault the buyer.... But I miss it! :D

And don't feel bad about spending too much time here... You've been here for almost two years more than I, and I just passed 800 yesterday... ;)
