OK, I'm basically a lurker here (obviously few posts).

I've launched a product especially geared toward, among other things, knives. I just can't figure out what I need to do to post info here. Specifically:

- I assume I need a paid membership of some sort
- I can't figure out the best place to post, is it some dealer forum, maker forum (I'm both) or just one of the specific forums?

Somebody help out a fellow.

Cheers.

To clarify...

(I looked briefly at your website) You make the Mag-Block yourself, right?

That would indicate to me that you're not a dealer- IIRC, the rules define a dealer as somebody who buys and resells for profit.

Now, do you make them by hand, or are they manufactured for you?
I'm no moderator, but here's what I expect the answer is going to be:

If you make the product yourself, you probably need a Knifemaker membership. There are a couple guys making custom saps, knuckledusters, etc, and as far as I know, they're ok with Knifemaker.

On the other hand, if they're manufactured for you, then I'm guessing you'll need a Dealer membership, since Dealers and Manufacturers get lumped together.

BUT! Having said that, a mod will be along before too long here to give you the conclusive answer :)

Thanks for the help.

You're right, I'm the maker and no I don't have them made, I make them.

So, I think you're on the right track. I'll wait and hear some more opinions.

Thanks again.

Link removed as until you buy a membership at which point you can advertise your product. Since you are a maker you should purchase a Knifemaker membership.

The only trouble with a Knifemaker Membership is it would say "Knifemaker" after your name which could cause confusion. If you get a Platinum Membership you can give yourself a custom title, Magnet Maker or Magnetron or your business name or whatever you like.

True, he could do that. But isn't a Platinum Membership $10 more? How about making the option to change titles avaliable with the Knifemaker membership?

WHAT?????? NOT scam people out of the extra ten buck$??? What's wrong with you???

Seriously, Platinum Membership comes with many valuable perks. Click on "Upgrade your forums experience, and help support this site" at the top of the page for details.

Thanks everybody.

I certainly had no intention of skirting the rules.

I'll look into upgrading.

I guess I'll have to go Platinum if I don't want it to say knifemaker. Maybe it doesn't matter.

Then why would you buy a Platinum Membership:confused:

Abouna should buy a Premium Knifemaker Membership, then he gets his own forum, lots of PM and Image space and....

... and 150X150 avatar.

OK, somebody help me here.

I was just about to get the Platinum membership but I'm not sure it will allow me to sell. It does give me the benefit of changing my description, which I like. But maybe I have to get a Knifemaker membership to sell.

I'm a bit confused. I don't mind the additional $10 but would like to know what's what. According to what Ken wrote last, I could do either. Just want to make sure.
