if i'm selling a knife how do you guys usually work it, do i wait for the other parties money before i ship the blade or do you ship same day as they send the money and just play it by the honor system?

My brother has traded two different knives here on the forums and has not had trouble at all . The people here in the forums have proved to me more than a few times that they are very honorable.

One word of warning. I had worked out a deal to sell a knife to a forum member. He wanted a new blade put into the knife, so I sent it back to the factory and I paid to have a new blade put in.

After it came back, I e-mailed the forum member that the knife was ready to ship and that he could send payment. He never bothered to get back to me. So, I am out the money for the new blade and I still have the knife.

Therefore, I would recommend that you receive payment before sending out your knife.

Trading on the forums with people you never met could be risky. However, I have done quite a few deals with members here, and all have been simply outstanding. I never wait on payment, I ship the knives out just as soon as the deal is agreed on. I mean, trust has to go both ways. Why should somebody trust me enough to send money, if I wont trust them enough to send a knife out. If I buy a knife, and somebody said they would not send me the knife until they got my money, I personally would find that insulting and would think twice about ever trading with that person again. I have sold or traded with md2020, russ, copfish, V.Oller, DeadinNC and a few others. They have all been super people, and I would NEVER be afraid to send them knives before I got thier money or trade. That is just my opinion, and how I personally prefer to do my buying/selling/trading with other members.

I look at the number of posts a person has. If they have over a hundred posts, usually that person has been here for a while and isn`t going to jepordize their good name in the forums by trying to stiff you on a deal. I`ll usually ship before I receive payment in these cases. If someone has a small amount of posts to their name, I usually like to have cash in hand before I ship.

After you`ve been on the forums for a while, you get to know a lot of the folks and begin to feel more comfortable trusting them for a smooth exchange. I`ve never had a problem with a BF member.

The way I do it is if Iam selling a knife I wait till I receive payment, much like any knife dealer would do.I usually request Money orders.Postal Money orders are preferred, they are easy to cash on the receivers end, since you need not have a bank account or wait till it clears.Postal Money orders offer protection for both parties in case of fraud. If we are talking about trades its one of those situations you have to both take a leap of faith and in that case I send it out and hope the other person is shipping on their end.I to look at the number of posts someone has and sometimes will search to see if they have had any dealings on the forums before. If someone is not on the up and up word gets around quickly. If someones first post at Bladeforums is in the (for sale) forum,I myself would not take the risk if it is a trade.Stay Sharp,RS

On the forums I haven't any problem sending the knife as soon as the deal is finaled and I have the address to which the knife is to be delivered.
As long as I have an address and not a Post Office box.Get the drift.

have a"knife"day

If its someone I have had deals with before I just go ahead and ship when we agree on everything. If its a trade I send on whatever day both parties agree they can get to the post office and send it. Meaning we agree to ship the same day. If its a money deal with a new person I usually wait until the money order arrives or the check clears. I also have NEVER had a bad deal on the forum.Weather buying, selling or trading Everyone I have dealt with has been freindly, honest and everything went smoothly.

PS I also look at the number of posts to help determine weather or not to make a deal.
