Selling through a PM, not posting on thread

I recently had a seller deny me a sale by PM requesting I could only get the knife by posting in his sales thread. He said he had gotten in trouble with the mods for doing this previously. Anybody care to enlighten me as to why this is? I've bought many knives through PMs, am I doing something wrong?

Not to be sneaky, but why is it everyone's business who the buyer is if the buyer chooses to buy discreetly?

Thanks in advance for any info

Pretty sure the seller can chose to sell to whomever he or she chooses. Never heard about not be able to sell through pm's. Happens all the time.

If a seller requests that a buyer post in their thread, it is not an unreasonable request. I don't think I've seen any rules listed that say you cannot buy via email or PM (provided you have the appropriate membership level anyway). To me, it seems a bit odd to turn down a sale for that reason, but to each thir own. Probably a blessing in disguise anyway.

russamurai - I sent you a PM earlier that starts with
"Sorry about that. The misunderstanding is my fault. I sell a lot on another forum that has that rule and didn't that was not the case here on BF. It is marked sold now."
I will let you read the rest of it since it has payment/contact info, etc...

Keep this in mind. If you do not buy from an actual Exchange thread, you won't be able to give / receive iTrader feedback.
If there is an Exchange thread, no, you don't have to post in it to get feedback. But the seller can set any condition he likes, pretty much.
