Looking for some guidance. It's my understanding that a non-Gold member does not have private messaging privilege/capability? When selling on the Exchange, if you receive an "I'll take it" from a non-gold member without PM capability, what would be the best way to proceed? Post your e-mail and ask for Paypal payment and proceed with communication in the thread? Or, request the buyer to post their e-mail for further communication to close the deal? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Nope.......not for me, I Don't like drama.

Id probably take $10 off the cost so they could buy a basic membership
*IF I really wanted Them to buy the blade.
Don't post emails!!!!

Otherwise, others will come along.

The above is a good idea. The ability to PM has never been more important as scammers have recently been hounding people that post their email and screwing folks over. There are multiple threads in the Feedback forum regarding this.

It can still be relatively safe, you just have to go a touch slower and make sure you're actually communicating with the real member. Most of the folks that have been scammed simply responded to an email they received and paid the scammer, not questioning why they got an email when they did not post theirs in the sales thread. (It was usually posted elsewhere on the forum and found by the scammer.)

If the other member does not want to upgrade to the minimum of a Basic membership and still wants to buy, then it is on them to post their email to further communications. You already pay for the ability to avoid it so the potential risk is their burden.

I assume that one can post one's paypal email address in a direct message without fear, but not in an Exchange post which advertises a knife for sale?

A $10 "Basic" membership allows DMs to be used for communication. A "Gold" membership is not required. Just so it's clear and not lost in the noise.

Since I have no financial interest in the site, and therefore no conflict of interest, I can express my personal opinion that anyone who is not willing to pony up $10 to enjoy the relative safety conferred via communicating by DM when transacting in the Exchange, is penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Those assumptions are correct.
>Direct messages are between individuals and only those individuals can see them. Not even Spark can see them.
>The exchanges are open forums. No membership is required in order to view the content.
