This custom-ordered piece is based on the Seme, a sword-like blade from Kenya. This one is longer and has a more angular point than a normal version. Although they are made in a variety of sizes and dimensions, the tip is usually rounded. A Seme is given to a young man as part of his rites of manhood, with the blade being kept for life and used for a variety of purposes.

This version is 39" oal, with a 31" blade, exhibiting a distal thickness taper that becomes frighteningly thin toward the tip. It weighs about 1 lb even, lenticular cross-section, with a double edge. Alloy is Ti 6-2-4-2.

It's a little whippy, in a good way. Not even close to as floppy as the tip of a wushu stage performance sword though; a titanium alloy one would be way too dangerous and stiff.

Titanium alloys are very good for sharp Chinese sword types and martial forms.
